Tigers' pitching coach Bob Cluck is setting his hopes pretty high for 22-year-old right-hander Jeremy Bonderman. "If Bonderman pitches like he did his last eight starts (5-3, 2.33 earned-run average, 60 strikeouts in 58 innings), he'd be the Cy Young Award winner. But it's not fair to expect that of him," Cluck told the Detroit News.

Hold on there, coach. We appreciate Bonderman's potential as much as anyone, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Expect Jeremy's numbers to be a marked improvement over last year when he went 11-13 with a 4.89 ERA, but he's not even a No. 2 fantasy starter in normal sized leagues...yet.

as nice as it would be to have a cy young candidate for an ace i think bonderman is still far from it. anything less than 14 wins this year can be named an underachievement.

Bonderman, IMO, is one of the rising stars in the AL. Working with someone like Pudge should pay huge dividends in the not-too-distant-future. Geez I hope he stays injury free.

Jeremy is a stud. When Kyle Sleeth makes it to the bigs, Detroit could have the best 1-2 starters in baseball, imho.
