I was watching Sportsnet a little while ago, and I saw at the bottom that Marty York is reporting that the SkyDome will be renamed tomorrow. I've been looking around the internet and I havent found anything, but I have found that there is a press conference scheduled tomorrow, so it looks like its going to happen.
I'm guessing it'll be something along the lines of Rogers' SkyDome or something gay like that.

Ugh, Rogers Centre :(
I was hoping they would at least keep SkyDome in there

I got sent a press release about this this morning. One of the things hyped in it was that the fans can expect a more competitive team because of the Jay's increased payroll. I hadn't noticed the Jays throwing a bunch of extra money around in the off-season.
Anyways, they can call it what they want, it'll always be the SkyDome to me. The Roger's Centre sounds like one of their customer service outlets.

The payroll increase will come next off-season, when the Jays will up their payroll about 20 million.
I'm just glad they didnt call it the "Conn Dome" after Conn Smythe.

Why would they ???? What connection to baseball, or the ownership would Smythe's name have had ?????
Anyway, most stadiums and arenas these days are selling "naming rights" to unaffiliated corporations, just for the money. these names have no logical connection to the teams. At least Rogers didn't do that.
A lot more important than the dome name is what they will do with :
a] the facility
b] the team
They are going to replace the old Jumbotron, and add a couple of extra screens...better for the fans. They will install a new type of artificial turf, more realistic, less hard...better for the players' knees, legs, etc, plus way less crappy ground rule doubles,(meaning more RBI's scoring guys from first base). :)
The new 3-year budget average $70 million a year, could make a huge difference starting next year....but I'm personally hoping it's not Ricciardi picking the players. :(

I'm not sure if you picked the joke up, but yeah, that was one of my dads favorite jokes. It was the first thing he said to me when I told him about the Rogers Centre.

I didn't catch it the first time. Sounds like a dad joke. :D
Another one bites the dust, eh? :(
Rogers Centre? That sucks. But at least you guys can spell 'centre', unlike your neighbours to the south.

Rumor has it Ted Rogers will next buy the CN Tower, right beside the Rogers Centre.
It will be re-named "Ted's Big Thing".
