I think it's hard to rank them seeing as how they played in different eras. I think most people will agree that Walter Johnson is #1, but after that, it gets hairy. And then add to the fact that there are people who've won less than 300 games, but are better than half the pitchers who whave won more than 300. There's no doubt in my mind that Koufax and Gibson are better than half the people on the 300 list. But again, it's hard to compare two players from different eras, let alone 20+

Well put....
I was somewhat reluctant to list my '500 home run hitters' for the same reason...I really like some guys with less than 500, like Gehrig, Kiner,Snider better than some of the '500' club.

Thing is that these polls are not reflecting the greatest pitchers or hr hitters per se but just to rank the ones that achieved those feats.. How would you ranke everyone that won 300 or hit 500, etc...

It wouldn't be fair for me to rank all 21 without having more knowledge of each player, so I'll do my top 10....

3. Pete Alexander
4. Roger Clemens
5. Lefty Grove
6. Tom Seaver
7. Greg Maddux
8. Warren Spahn
