View Full Version : Jets fans and the NY media still bitter about Belichick

I rarely listen to Mike and the Mad Dog (a sports radio show on WFAN), but today I decided to give it a listen since Mike hates the Patriots and Belichick. Boy was he angry today. He spent a lot of his time ripping Belichick and all. He talked about how Belichick was disloyal to the Jets and etc. The fans followed suit too. Then I got to listen to that blowhard Michael Kay on ESPN Radio. He talked about how Belichick may be a great coach, but in his eyes, he is a chump for what he did in leaving the Jets. Then the writers rip Belichick in the papers all week for leaving as "HC of the NYJ". It was beyond pathetic after hearing sour grapes being spewed.

I think the media, the talkies, and the fans are barking the wrong tree. Yeah what Bill did was wrong, but Jets owner Woody Johnson and the organization has no one to blame but themselves for this situation. Bill was under contract. He was on no obligation to leave the Jets since he agreed to take over when Parcells would leave as a head coach. Jets did not have to agree on draft picks or whatever since Belichick's signature was in that contract. I am amazed how the Jets let the Patriots get away with it by agreeing to deal with the draft picks. Jets were under no obligation to let him walk. What's even amusing is that Woody Johnson, the new owner of the Jets, never bothered to even speak to Belichick when Bill had doubts on working for a new owner. Woody should have reached out to him before Belichick made his decision to leave. That's just ignorance and stupidity right there. A new owner should try to make an impression on a guy like Belichick when he had his doubts. You think Arthur Blank (owner of the Falcons) would have ignored Belichick? Heck no. You think Al Davis would have let Belichick get away with it? Definitely not. Yeah you can cite how dumb Davis was in letting Gruden walk, but that looks like a good decision now. The late Leon Hess would see to it that Belichick would not have done it and I bet Belichick would even dare to do a behind-the-scenes deal behing Leon Hess's back.

As Belichick brings Super Bowl every year, Woody Johnson has to be wondering what was he thinking not even saying a word to Bill or acknowledging him. He has to be thinking why he let Robert Kraft heist him.

Instead of the media and the fans spewing hard feelings and acting like petulant people, they should go rip the Jets for this bone-head decision. Then you wonder why the Jets will always be NFL's version of Charlie Brown.

I have a really hard time believing this thread, since every time I've heard Mike and the Dog during the playoffs, they were outright rooting for the Pats, and constantly praising Belichick and Brady.

Mike in particular has been in love with Brady since 01.
