I know its going to be hard to believe but ...
keep an eye on LaTroy Hawkins. He was dominant yesterday against the Sox.
The new pitching coach, Rick Anderson, has already got LaTroy using a much more compact motion and has him concentrating on using two pitches vs. the five he was using last year. The new staff really believes that changing these things will turn him around and make him an important part of the BP.
He can throw 96, so if he can get one other pitch that he can count on, he can be very effective in relief. Last year he could never make up his mind what pitches to mix in with his fastball and lost command of them all. His release point was different for every pitch.
This is only one example of why Twins fans are so glad to be rid of Dick Such, as pitching coach. He had LaTroy for his whole career and couldn't seem to help him find himself at all, Anderson is here for a few weeks and already has him on the right track.
