Quarterback Akili Smith, the third overall pick in the 1999 draft, will try to get back in the NFL by playing in NFL Europe with Frankfurt Galaxy this spring.
Smith, who started 17 games in four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, was one of three NFL starting quarterbacks who will play in Europe.
The others are the Houston Texans' Dave Ragone, who started two games in 2003, and Kurt Kittner, now with the Chicago Bears, who started four games for the Atlanta Falcons that same season.
Among the others who will play in Europe are Tennessee Titans running back Jarrett Payton, son of NFL great Walter Payton, and Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Eric Crouch, the 2001 Heisman Trophy winner as quarterback at the University of Nebraska.
Wish Payton and Crouch luck...
