For the past two years, Colorado's Jason Young was a pitcher only a sports injury researcher could love.
The mishap that marred each season, a cracked rib from the simple force of his pitching motion, was unprecedented as far as the Rockies' medical staff could determine.

This offseason, however, Young decided he was tired of devoting his career to science.

"As soon as the season was over, I took the mentality into the offseason that I had to make a change," he said.

The result is a cleaner delivery with shorter arm action. Young believes this will reduce the torque that caused the injury and correct some of the inconsistencies that have baffled the Rockies ever since they drafted him in the second round in 2000 out of Stanford and signed him to a club-record $2.75 million bonus.

"He figured once was an accident or something [freaky] that happened, but the second time he figured something was wrong, so 'I gotta do something,'" said Colorado special front office assistant and pitching consultant Marcel Lachemann.

Young studied video of himself pitching and compared it to healthy Rockies pitchers. He also watched stars he admired such as Roger Clemens, Curt Schilling and Jason Schmidt.

I have always like Jason so I do wish him a ton of luck and Get Er DONE!!!
