Well I have been hearing all day on the radio that the Rockies are the worst team in baseball voted on what the writers have been saying...
And I for one have to agree with them... :(

They might be the worst. But they have alot of good young players.

What can you say? Of the 56 guys at Spring Training, 40 of them have less than 2 years in the bigs, 28 have less than 1 year, and 14 guys haven't spent a day in the big leagues.
It will not be pretty.

I guess we have to drink before the game so we dont need as many at the game huh Dan?!?!?!?
Hey speaking of drinking and such... The wife got a GREAT new job so we will have a bit more money to spend and so I am sure she will want to get down to Denver and spend some of it. She loves that mall in Westmister (SP) and I know how to get though Thorton and Westmister fairly good so I am sure we will be down. I would guess around Aug or such. July is all full I dont have time for anything in July but I am sure we will be down in Aug and heck I might have to make a trip in Sep also when they they should be giving us money to watch these guys!!!!

I completely disagree with this! OMG how wrong could they be! :duh: When you've got young players, you've got hope. Think of the '01 and '02 Mets. :barf: They were awful - really awful and yet you have to find the positive. I looked forward to the day when I got to see Jose Reyes play and then David Wright. Now I've got a nice core of young players mixed in with some vets. It will make watching the Mets fun.
And we won't even talk about the Pads from '99-'03. But I kept saying, watch this kid, watch that kid and slowly I am getting rewarded for the patience. I also enjoyed watching the young raw talent, it made the losing bearable because I didn't watch the game for the final result. I watched the game for the pure beauty of the skills. And I was always disappointed when the 9 innings were complete - again not because of the result but because the game was finished. Oh sure there were some truly horrible and embarrasing moments but that's what made the good that much sweeter and now, success even better. I wouldn't have it any other way.
And yes, you can call me "Pollyanna". :laff:

We should have a contest - make up a list of words that will appear in Rockie's newspaper articles before the season starts. This would be my list, for starters -
improper, ill-timed, inappropriate, inapt, inept, malapropos, unapt, undue, unseasonable, unseemly, unsuitable, infelicitous, awkward, graceless, ill-chosen, unfortunate, unhappy, awkward, bumbling, clumsy, gauche, halting, ham-handed, lumbering, maladroit, unhandy, wooden, unskillful, inadept, inapt, inexpert, unapt, undexterous, unfacile, unhandy, unproficient, inefficient, incapable, incompetent, inexpert, unexpert, unskilled, unskillful, and unworkmanlike.
Right now, the over/under on the Rockie's season is 67, as in for every person that thinks they will win more than 67 games, there is someone who thinks they will win less than 67 games. This puts the Rox at #30 - out of 30 teams.
Todd Helton walked 127 times last year (second only to Bonds) with Vinny Castilla and Jeromy Burnitz hitting behind him, and they are both gone this season, along with their 37 home runs (Burnitz) and 131 RBI (Castilla). Todd might walk 500+ times this season, haha.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Oh yeah, and even with Castilla and Burnitz last year, they only won 68 games.

Did you rob a dictionary for those? I don't know about some of those more obscure words. I've found that the local sports writers around here are not quite that imaginary, but maybe Denver is a mecca for brilliant sportswriting.

Haha - the only thing Denver is a mecca for is yuppies and all-hat no-cattle cowboy wannabes :D
The sportswriters here are having to dig deep into their vocabularies because they're covering teams like the Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos - and are running out of ways to say bad.
I did rob Roget's Thesaurus for my word list (and not a very good job of that, as I see now there are several 'repeats' on the list) - but with a little time I could add about 500 more - there are lots of ways to say bad in the English language, haha!

Huh! And here I thought Denver was a "mecca" for those people that could never ski in the northeast, because it's "not real skiing" and use Denver's airport to get to their skiing destinations. Ya learn something new everyday. :duh:

That is a very true statement, yagsy - snow-snobs are a large part of the winter/spring population :D
