According to a team source, the Celtics will send guard Gary Payton, center Michael Stewart and forward Tom Gugliotta to Atlanta.
The Hawks will also get a future first-round draft choice, spokesman Arthur Triche said. The trade was pending league approval.

At least TODD Walker woud have been Red Sox-related material to discuss. The only one here who cares about the Celtics is Bob, and he's not here at the moment.
(I'm just busting your nuts, Blue)

I don't think he can. I think it's against NBA rules to change numbers mid-season.

Hmm, thats interesting, also, I heard that Payton will probably resign with the Celts after Atlanta pays off his contract. How true is this and also, how sweet will that be?? Another thing, did Atlanta do this JUST to relieve some salary? Whats the point of being an NBA team if they keep releasing people just because of their contract. Doesnt make any sense to me. Theyve let some really good players go in. Atlanta has a zero future. They should just sell and move the team.

I think Ainge did this to get some respect back.
I think Ainge did this to get some respect back.
Hes doing this cuz hes desperate. He needs Pierce to step up his game, and with Walker, I can guarantee you that Pierce will be 200x better now.

Yeah Pierce and Walker were a Duo!
I just didnt understand why Ainge seperated them 2, when they were together, they were the second best duo in all of the NBA, right behind Shaq and Kobe.

The only reason why Ainge made this trade was to counter Philadelphia's move to get Webber. I am not even sure if Walker is going to do much to lead them in the Atlantic Division. I think the Celtics were better off staying put.
Why did they gave up on Jiri Welsch? This guy can play and he is pretty good for a team that loves to run the motion offense or fastbreak. He is one guy that fits Ainge's vision in terms of style of play. I wouldn't mind him wearing a Timberwolves uniform. Cavs did a good job picking him up.

Ainge never liked Antoine Walker's game at all and that goes back when he did the games on TNT. He would constantly rip him. Plus he thought he could get more for Walker. It also didn't help that the Walker would always get dominated by Kenyon Martin everytime the Nets played the Celtics in the postseason.
