Bill Greif was a pitcher who was a 3rd round draft choice by the Astros in 1968. He was traded to the Padres after the '71 season and subsequently spent the vast majority of his career in San Diego. A member of the starting rotation in '72, '73 and '74, Greif never enjoyed a winning season. He did however, lead the majors in HBP in '74 with 14 and was known for sitting more than a few hitters on their butts with his high, tight fastball. He threw 3 shutouts in '73 and was traded to the Cardinals in the '76 season.

John Curtis
He was a first round pick of the Red Sox in 1970. He pitched a few years with them and several more with the Cardinals before landing in San Deigo in the twi-light of his career. He won 10 games for the Padres in 1980. The main reason I remember him is because I saw him pitch a lot when he was a Clemson and had always thought he's make a great ML'er some day. Not one of my better predictions.

Cool thread guys! How about Matty Alou?
Topping off a 14yr career that started with the Giants in 1960, and a career batting average of .307. Wasn't a HR hitter but also didn't strike out alot either making the most of his outs by putting bat on the ball. Played his best seasons in Pittsburg, from '66 - '70 sharing the outfield with Roberto Clemente. His batting average during his Pittsburg years was around .325 and averaging over 600 at bats in those seasons. His last good season was with the NY Yankees and Cardinals in '73, batting .285 in over 500 atbats. His year with the Pads, 81 at bats, .198 batting average in 1974.
