JUPITER, Fla. -- The Cardinals and Mets -- two teams that expect to be playing in the chill of late October -- faced off Thursday on a cool, gray day in late February, and the very early results favored St. Louis.
J.D. Drew hit a solo homer, and Eduardo Perez and Mike Matheny each drove in a run in a three-run fourth as St. Louis topped New York, 5-2. The Mets rallied for two runs in the fifth but could manage no more in the Grapefruit League opener for both clubs.
