Other than Mays, who do you guys feel is the best retired Giant player. Mccovey, Clark, Bobby Bonds or someone else? Just wondering what fans think.

GO Giants!!

PF, welcome to Addicts!!! :wave1:

When I saw the title of the thread, my initial thinking was of course Willie, but you eliminated that option. :D

These are the names that spring to mind for me, hopefully some of the more well read guys can fill some of the gaps:

As the New York Giants

Christy Mathewson
Bill Terry
Mel Ott
Johnny Mize
Carl Hubbell

As the San Francisco Giants

Willie McCovey
Juan Marichal
Bobby Bonds
Will Clark
Matt Williams

Out of all those names, it's hard to pick one. But I always liked Marichal, outstanding pitching style, and great numbers. But all of those guys are great Giants.

Wow!

Great question and Daniel, I must say that I am impressed with the names you threw out there...

I'll break it down to a pitcher and a hitter for my choices:

Picher: Christy Mathewson

Hitter: Mel Ott (Of course this may change when Bonds retires);)

A few other names I'd add to the NY Giants list in additions to Obri's are:

Tim Keefe who had 269 of his 342 wins with them...

Roger Connor who had his best HOF years with them in the 1880's and 1890's...

Joe McGinnity, who put up his best HOF #'s with the Giants in the early 1900's...
