PHOENIX - On deck

The Rockies will host the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 1:05 p.m. game today at Hi Corbett Field. There will be no broadcast. Jamey Wright will start for the Rockies against Arizona left-hander Matt Chico. Jeff Francis, meanwhile, will pitch in the minor-league camp to get in his work.

Sunday in camp

Jason Jennings allowed 10 hits in his first 14 innings this spring before giving up nine in 52/3 innings Sunday in a 7-3 loss to the Oakland A's at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

Rookie watch

Clint Barmes homered in the first inning for the Rockies' only run off Oakland starter Rich Harden. Barmes has reaffirmed the Rockies' decision to make him their shortstop, with solid defense and power at the plate. He has hit three home runs this spring training, which is tied with Todd Helton and Tim Olson for the team lead.

Etc.

Manager Clint Hurdle remained in Tucson and took part in the minor-league workouts Sunday as part of the exchange program in which members of the big-league staff trade places with members of the minor-league staff to get a feel for each other's responsibilities during spring training. Casper manager P.J. Carey was with the big-league team . . . The Rockies' 15 spring victories, with five exhibition games remaining, are two more than their total for last year . . . Closer Chin-hui Tsao tested the tightness in his right shoulder Sunday by playing long toss at the Rockies' spring training facility in Tucson.

I would be all for P.J. to say the manager for the Rox!!!!!!!! That guy is just plain great!!!! I have heard many people in many diffenet teams say this guy is the BEST teacher of baseball at the minor league level.

He is a guy that has his team around him all the time and works his butt off to teach them the game and I think the guys the Rox are seeing before Hurdle gets ahold of them are showing what a great start he can give them....

Way to go Jason. Get a new contract and go out and start to get a ERA to match....

Name the closer and he is hurt. Great move....

I am excited to watch Barmes though. I think he should be ok for the Rox. Still waiting to see about Adkins. I am happy he is going to be the man now and get a chance to hit. Instead of the 5 AB's in 3 weeks and Hurdle then saying he isnt ready...

Good news on Young. I wish him luck. Like all Rox pitchers has a heck load of promose but just dont get it done in the Bigs. But I blame that on mangement on not getting a good pitching coach.

Chin-lung Lo allowed one run on three hits, striking out three in four innings.

SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS KID!!!!!!!

Hurdle should be long gone when he is ready and I cant wait to see him toe the rubber!!!! Had a great season here as a 16 year old in Casper. (great for the age he was and the guys he was throwing against) And I feel this could be the corner stone for the Rox team in a few years....
