The Devil Rays claimed former Twins outfielder Michael Restovich off waivers on Thursday. "I think I have been preparing myself for this," Restovich told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "I saw it coming, so it wasn't a shock."

Restovich has always had tremendous potential, but while his power is an impressive trait, the lack of plate discipline that comes with it, is not so much. The Devil Rays have a relatively crowded outfield already with Carl Crawford, Aubrey Huff, Alex Sanchez, Rocco Baldelli (when he returns later this season), and if he's not sent down to the minors, speedster Joey Gathright. That list isn't full of high profile names, but clearly Restovich doesn't have the skill set that nearly all of them possess. Expect it to be just as hard for him to crack the lineup in Tampa Bay as it would've been in Minnesota.
