ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Big East coaching rivals Jim Calhoun and Jim Boeheim, who both passed the 700-victory mark this season, have been elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Calhoun, who won the NCAA title last season with Connecticut for the second time, and Boeheim, who led Syracuse to its only championship in 2003, were notified of their election on Thursday.

The official announcement will be Monday at the Final Four. Executive director Jim Haney of the National Association of Basketball Coaches told of their election Friday when he introduced the two at a coaches' function.

The induction ceremony will be Sept. 8-10 in Springfield, Mass.

Congrats to both men. Great coaches who know how to win and who know how to develop good players. For them to stay this long is a tribute of their work as coaches.

Those two are well-deserving.
