Nutt doesn't want to offend cancer survivors
Associated Press

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said that players caught loafing will no longer wear pink jerseys during practices in an effort to avoid offending breast cancer survivors.

Nutt received negative reaction from people when they saw the players in the pink jerseys. Breast cancer survivors and their supporters often wear pink ribbons, and the nationwide Race for the Cure, which raises funds for breast cancer research, uses the color pink as well.

"That's the last thing I want to do, is to offend a cancer victim, someone who I know how strong and brave they are," Nutt said. "That was the last thing on our mind, to discredit somebody who has shown a lot of toughness. I've had members of my family who had cancer."

Nutt said the coaches are considering another color, possibly burnt orange, the color of Arkansas rival Texas.

Give me a break.

Who would look at a bunch of football players with pink jerseys on and think cancer.

This country is getting to soft.

I would think exactly like Nutt wanted people to think.

I would laugh my ass off at those guys out there in Pink jerseys wondering what they did to mess up.

I wear pink shirts all the time. I have no problems wearing one. My wife hates them but I have always had one. So now I wont be able to wear it because I will offend someone because I never had cancer or didnt wear it for cancer support?

I'm wearing my first pink shirt today actually, and I kind of like it! I feel free, happy, and i just want to hug everyone. I just bought 2 more pink shirts on the internet a few minutes ago because i enjoy them so much.

Hopefully I'm not offending anyone by wearing them. I knew I couldn't wear specific colors because they were gang colors, but I never knew the cancer people would be after me as well.

I agree with Durango. This country is getting too Politically correct. It seems like everywhere you look these days advertisers are trying to get men to wear "pretty" colors. I was walking by a retailer the other day in the mall and they had pink, purple, and violet shirts on all of the male display people(I don't know how to spell manican, that is probably wrong) I am not a fan of them.

double word. I hate shopping for clothes even more now because it feels like I have wandered into the wrong section. No I will not wear, let alone pay $60 for a pretty woven pink or violet sweater.

It makes me sick everytime I see someone or some organization going out of the way to do something they see as politcally correct. I would think the cancer survivors would take it as more support; look at it as the players messed up so they are being forced to support breast cancer recgonition if anything at all :hmm:
