FORT MYERS, Florida (Ticker) -- Joe Mays gave up just two hits over three scoreless innings, leading the Minnesota Twins to a 4-2 Grapefruit League victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Mays, who signed a four-year, $20 million contract extension in the offseason, allowed the first two batters to reach in the top of the first but worked out of the jam by getting Jeff Conine to ground into an inning-ending double play. He walked one and struck out two.
The Twins scored all four runs in the bottom of the first off John Stephens. David Lamb had an RBI triple and Bobby Kielty delivered a run-scoring double.
Brook Fordyce accounted for the Orioles' only runs with a two-run homer off Jack Cressend in the fifth.
Former Twin Marty Cordova, who signed with Baltimore in the offseason, went 2-for-3
