DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies acquired right-hander Jose Acevedo on Saturday from Cincinnati for reliever Allan Simpson and planned to option Acevedo to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Acevedo was 5-12 with a 5.94 ERA in 39 games, including 27 starts, for the Reds last season. The Reds optioned him to Louisville on March 30.
Simpson appeared in two games for the Rockies this season and had an 0-0 record and 67.50 ERA. The Rockies had optioned the right-hander Friday to Colorado Springs to make room for newly acquired left-hander Bobby Seay, formerly of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
