Terrell Owens, chagrined by some of the characterizations of him over the past week, denied on Monday night he switched agents to improve his financial status, but was as elusive in discussing his contract as he is in dodging NFL cornerbacks.

The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver also insisted his goal is to win a Super Bowl title with his current team, but found time to take a not particularly veiled swipe at Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, with the talkative wide receiver noting at one point that he "wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl."

What Owens apparently has grown weary of, it seems, are what he perceives as portrayals of him being selfish and opportunistic.

"There are a lot of people who said that me playing in that game was an inspiration to them," Owens said. "Hey, the only person I was trying to inspire was myself. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. But why did I want to do it? To win a Super Bowl for the team, for the fans, for the city. I did everything they asked me to do. I played every snap they allowed me to play. I wasn't even running until, like, two weeks before the game. But I made sure I was in the best shape possible. I wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl."

Asked to whom he was referring, Owens laughed, then changed the subject.

I feel bad for McNabb for having the WR that he has...

lol...good, can't wait to see this team fall apart this year.
and i agree, Owens runs his mouth to much and ever sense he got signed witht he Eagles the fact that now hes getting recognized is getting to his head. Right when he got signed to the Eagles, his first comment was somewhere along the lines of "I'm the best WR there is today, even better than Randy Moss". Thats such a BS comment, even though Randy got traded during the off season I still stand by him by saying that Randy is the best reciever playing the game right now. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember hearing some of Owens and Moss's stats during last season and Owens has been in the NFL for i think 2 or 3 years longer than Moss but yet Moss has all around better stats than him. More TDs, more Recieving yards, etc. Owens is just to damn cocky.

He really didn't get many people to look at him playing in the super bowl as inspiration, which i thought it was. Rather, people saw it as him playing for himself, and himself only. For which ever reason he did it, he still shouldn't try and emphasize what he wants people to think. If people don't see it the way you want them to, I guess you didn't do a good job persuading them to do so.

After the superbowl:

He (Owens) also compared his situation to that of Brett Favre, who's famous for playing through injuries. "They would have called him a warrior," Owens said, then shrugged, adding he had long become resigned to many observers labeling his stance as selfish.

Maybe he was valiant in playing in the SB, but this comment was plain foolish and arrogant.

I had no problem with him playing the SB. Hell he had some balls doing it I thought.

Give him a month. McNabb will be accused of being gay as well. :hmm:

Guess it wasn't all Garcia's fault in San Francisco after all.

I consider it selfish if ANY player plays a single game while injuried. If your injuried then sit your time out and heal, then come back and piss people off because your playing good WITHOUT being accused of being selfish because you were injuried and the second strings should be able to play.

Just my point of view.

If you're injured but can still make a bigger impact than a 2nd string guy, which I think TO did, then by all means play.

On a side note, TO is a douchebag.

A leopard never changes its stripes.

I have no idea who is stupid. Him or Freddie "I need to talk crap since I stink as a WR" Mitchell.

T.O. may be a jerk, but he is the best WR in the league IMO. He doesn't EVER take a play off, he's not afraid to go over the middle, and he's just a beast. His performance in the SB was legendary. He is all heart.

I think when you start to talk about best players it all comes down to what you like.

T.O. is a very good WR one of the best and yes it was a great game he had in the SB and my hat off to him.

But he isnt helping matters with his QB. If he is already wanting more money and throwing his QB under the bus that dont do well for the team.

9 catches for 120+ yards in the superbowl right? I hate to say that I agree with him on that count. I think a lot of people are getting on him about that game because they don't like him otherwise. I don't like him either, but if you can play that well, why should you sit?

That being said, if I were Donovan I'd probably power play him out of town on the next plane. The guy is cancer.
