After several days of experiencing dizziness and headaches from being beaned, the Twins placed first baseman Justin Morneau on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, retroactive to April 7.

"It doesn't put pressure on me to try to rush back this weekend or anything," Morneau said. "It lets me wait until I'm completely ready to go so it doesn't take any longer [to recover] than it should."

Morneau was hit in the head by a pitch thrown by Seattle lefty Ron Villone on April 6. A CT scan taken at a hospital showed no medical problems at the time, but the 23-year-old has since been diagnosed with a concussion. He missed the last three games.

"I still have headaches just sitting here," Morneau said. "It's not as bad as it was. It's gotten a lot better the last two days. It's hard to tell. There's no timetable you can put on it."

hopefully he gets to feeling better

Like the move. Let him get over it and then put him in the cage to get some BP and warm up. This poor guy has had a very bad year so far!!!!!!!

Also I never knew Villone could throw that hard!! Hell he never got over 80 with the Rox!!!!!!! :D

I hope he is not injury-prone.

I hope he is not injury-prone.

the only thing i would call Morneau is Concussion prone.... (which doesn't happen much in baseball) Injury - prone is Non-existant in real life... It's a video game rating...that has NO real life correlation ... I hate it when people call a player injury prone, becuase MOST injuries don't lead to more injuries...

Not expected to be on the field until later this week, Morneau played catch and shagged flies in the outfield during Wednesday's batting practice. The 23-year-old, who has experienced headaches and dizziness since his April 6 beaning, will travel with the club to Cleveland this weekend.

When Morneau feels better, he will likely go to extended Spring Training in Fort Myers to get some at-bats. He is eligible to come off the DL April 22.

"Let him see some live pitching coming at him and make sure everything is in line and that he's not going to shy away from the ball," Gardenhire said. "It's a perfect opportunity to do that now that he's on the DL."
