GAME: Detroit Tigers (3-4) at Minnesota Twins (4-3).
TIME: Wednesday, 8:10 p.m. EDT.
The Minnesota Twins may not need Justin Morneau's bat against the Detroit Tigers.
The Twins will be without their first baseman for the second straight game as they go for their eighth straight win over the Tigers in the second game of their series at the Metrodome.
Morneau was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday by Minnesota.
Since being hit in the head by a pitch in a game last week, Morneau hasn't gotten much better. Though a second CT scan Monday revealed no damage, Morneau is still bothered by dizziness and headaches and will probably wait until at least Friday before attempting any baseball activities.
"Anybody that's ever been hit in the head ... it's one of those experiences that ultimately is going to take time to get over," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said. "He doesn't feel like he can participate."
Matthew LeCroy will continue to play first most days while Morneau is out. LeCroy is batting .263 with one home run and four RBIs in five games.
The Twins have had their way with the Tigers, winning seven straight against them dating back to last July. Minnesota didn't need Morneau on Tuesday.
Shannon Stewart hit an RBI ground-rule double off Troy Percival with one out in the ninth inning, giving Minnesota a 5-4 victory.

It was the first earned run Percival allowed in 40 1-3 career innings against the Twins. Before Stewart's big hit, Percival was the only active major leaguer with at least 40 innings logged against one opponent with an ERA of zero.
Percival has given up five hits, three runs and two walks in 3 1-3 innings this year.
Returning from a viral infection that kept him out the last four games, Magglio Ordonez went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts for Detroit.
Craig Monroe, a career .348 hitter against the Twins, went 2-for-4 with two runs for the Tigers. Monroe is tied with Dmitri Young for the team lead in RBIs with eight.

Right-hander Kyle Lohse will be seeking his first victory of 2005 when the Twins and Tigers match up for Game 2 of their series at the Metrodome on Wednesday.
Lohse allowed four runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in a 5-1 loss to the White Sox on April 8. He had one bad sixth inning but left coaches feeling encouraged by his outing. The right-hander is 4-1 with a 4.26 ERA in 11 career games vs. Detroit -- and is without a loss against the team in his last nine starts.
Jason Johnson will take the mound for Detroit. The right-hander is the last pitcher that can claim to have beaten Twins Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana. On July 11, 2004, Johnson took a 2-0 victory over Minnesota and Santana, who has won his last 15 decisions since the All-Star break.
In all seven of their games this season, the Twins have yet to score first.

"Everybody has opinions. It doesn't matter what you say off the field. It matters what you do on the field. Talk is talk. It's all about playing on the baseball field. After a great game and a great win last night, the series continues this evening. Twins will try to extend the winning streak to 3.
Kyle Lohse makes his second start of the year. He did alright in his first start, but I want to see him do better in his start tonight. He really needs to step up like Joe Mays especially in the wake of Carlos Silva's injury. Twins need him if they want to win the AL Central. If he stinks and if Gassner does well, he could find himself out of the rotation. His starts coming up for the next two months are going to be very vital.
Jason Johnson vs. Kyle Lohse
I am still amused why FSN North is not airing this game. They are airing the Timberwolves tongiht. Why can't Ch. 45 air the Wolves game and FSN North air the Twins game?

Great job with the game thread, T-Wolves. Thanks for posting them.
Good to get the back-to-back win against the Tigers. I guess that knucklehead Dimitri Young, the mouth that roar, underestimated the Twins about how they are on a decline as he talked about how the AL Central is between the Indians and Tigers. I hope the Twins impressed Dimitri. He was best served keeping his mouth shut. I am really glad we got the back-to-back wins. Tigers are nowhere close to the Twins level as far as I am concerned. Why they are nowhere close? It comes down to pitching. Tigers pitchers has been roughed up by the Twins in this series.
Jason Johnson, who stunk the game, stunk for the Tigers tonight. He was roughed up in the first inning and he never recovered. He did not even get to finish the first as he was taken out early. Twins were getting the bloop hits off him and then Jacques laid down the hammer on Johnson with that homerun in the upper deck. Twins offense was hitting like a pinball machine where the hitters would get a hit when they were batting.
Jason Bartlett and Joe Mauer played great again. I can't say enough about Jason and Joe shows why he is a great player.
How about Terry Tiffee? This was his first game of the year and he had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. He did a very good job. Good to see him do well. Terry was called up with Justin Morneau being in the DL.
Lew Ford has done a very good job so far. He is getting on base.
I am really glad the offense is starting to roll a little bit.
Kyle was efficient. It was good to see him relax with that big lead out there.
J.C. was very effective again.
Juan and Joe did the rest.
My only complaint is the game not being televised. I got the Metrodome feed on MLB.TV with the Twins radio guys. FSN North should have had that game tonight and Ch. 45 should have had the Wolves/Warriors game. Listening to Herb and Gordon was bad. Herb was alright, but he seemed bored. The only great thing those two did was give out out-of-town scores.
Let's go for the sweep tommorow.

Dan Gladden was talking about it in the game tonight. He thinks the Rox will implode. I disagree. This is a very long season. I like what I am seeing despite their record. I still think the Rox will have a good year.
