Rockies will try to end the eight-game losing streak and try to go for win #2 tonight against the San Francisco Giants.
It's a battle of two aces on the bump tonight. For the Giants, it's Jason Schmidt who was Cy Young runner up last year to Roger Clemens. For the Rockies, it's their ace Joe Kennedy on the hill.
I am going to call this one.
Rockies will beat the bad guys 8-5 tonight.
Tonight is the end of the losing streak. Tonight starts the winning streak. Tonight starts a good fortune.
Let's sit back, relax, and strap it down.

Would someone please tell me what the hell is that brick behind the home plate at Coors Field?
Timberwolf

Good job by the good guys as Joe Kennedy pitch a good first inning.
That was a very good catch by Desi Relaford to end the inning. That's my ESPN Webgem right there.

This is why the Rockies stink. They can't seem to hit with RISP. My god this was a bad strikeout to end the first. Very dissapointing.
We head to the second.

$hit!
Runners at second and third with 1 out.
C'mon Joe! Get your $hit together!

Game reset time after 2 innings of play:
Giants lead the Rox 1-0 thanks to a walk by Alfonzo getting the walk, running to second through a hit, run through third to sac fly and then went home by a sac fly by Mike Matheny.
Rockies stink in hitting.

Joe Kennedy pitched well in the third inning.
Let's score some runs. DAMN IT!
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 09:54 PM
Okay, folks.
Runners on third and first.
It's time for the Rox to score some runs here.
Timberwolf

ROCKIES TIE.
1-1.
Great bunt by Clint Barmas, who has a shot to win the Rookie of the Month.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:01 PM
BIG DOUBLE BY PRESTON WILSON as the Rox had two runners scored home
3-1.
That's what I am talking about. Big hit in RISP. It's about time.
Timberwolf

4-1 Good guys.
Big hit by Brad Hawke.

Hawke?
Nice to see the Rox bat around.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:12 PM
Man I am just happy the Rox are leading, winning, and getting the big hits.
It's even nice that George Frazier is not even speaking much.

The way Barmas is playing he is rookie of the year so far.

04-16-2005, 10:13 PM
Ya I even have this one on the TV. Coors field is one of the best fields out there.
Durango53

Joe is pitching like he pitched last year. Throw strikes in Coors and trust your Defense. I have been very impressed with Clints defense at SS so far this year.

Which Giant is the only one to win a Cy Young award?
I will say John Burkett

Joe has done good, but he is lucky he got only one run. It could have been worse.

What's with the brick at Coors?
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:19 PM
Getting out of it again Joe!!!
It is that bullpen that is going to give this game up again. :(
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:19 PM
Good job by Joe.
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:20 PM
It has been there I believe from the start. The whole outside of Coors is brick. I think it was covered up for a few years and now they brought it back to help out the young catchers so that the ball bounces back quicker to them.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:20 PM
I think Joe needs to go for the complete game here. The pen needs a rest.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:22 PM
I see. The home plate is full of brick.
Good job with the Trivia Answer, Shad.
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:22 PM
The pen needs the year off.
He wont get a CG. The Rox are lucky to get 3 a year. And hardly ever happens at Coors. ALthough Joe had a few last year that he should have stayed in latter but Clint pulled him out in the 6th a few times in one of those what the hell was you thinking moves.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:24 PM
Joe Kennedy is swinging the bat.
2 hits tonight.

Rox always seem to have pitchers that can hit.
Pitching around Todd again... :(

Good to see the ball back in the field.

The game reset after 4 innings:
Rockies got the big hit at RISP as they score 4 runs in the third. Preston Wilson got the big double to score two more runs.
Joe Kennedy has looked good.
Jason Schmidt has been getting hit hard.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:37 PM
Schmidt has 91 pitches now.
He is about to tire down.
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:38 PM
Ya when Schmidt is off you got to get to him

Can I ask how come the Indians have done well in rebuilding quickly while the Rockies can't seem to get that done either?
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:47 PM
Well the Indians have some good farm hands from the Rox system.
That is the big thing we dont like Hurdle for. The Rox have had some very high ranked farm kids. The Rox will call them up and they will get about 10 AB's in about 3 weeks. They dont hit that well because of that and Hurdle dont think they are any good so they get sent down or cut.
Hurdle will also have the bullpen blown out very soon in the year. So that is why they always have that summer down swing that will take them out of the running. And then when they get the pen rested and back strong they come back strong again. How the Pen goes is how the Rox go.
Matt Holliday shows what happens when the Rox HAVE to use the young guys and dont have anyone to fall back on. Dan O'Dowd threw up his hands a year or so ago and said I dont know what I have to do to make a winner. He trades guys so fast and dont give them a chance. Hell I love the team he made when he first came to the Rox. But after a month he traded half of them away!!! Hell they didnt even have time to learn the names of the guys before they was all traded. They never had a chance. That is a big problem with Dan he just cant let the players get used to playing before he starts to trade them.
Many problems add up to a bad team. The Rox have a great farm system. They have one of the best ranked players at every potstion in the minors but between Dan and Clint they have a hard time getting to the big leagues and staying.
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:50 PM
Also to the owners have put some handcuffs on Dan with some trades and moves he makes. So they are to blame also. This is just a bad run team and it shows on the field.

Felix homered
4-2 now.
I am getting nervous.

Double plays has been Kennedy's best friend tonight at Coors.
Durango53
04-16-2005, 10:53 PM
But I love to give guys the chance. I loved the hire of Clint when they hired him. He was the guy that the team wanted. Todd loved Clint. He helped make Todd the hitter he is (that is why I think Clint is one of the best hitting coachs around) but he has just made to many mistakes the past two years and he just hasnt learned from his mistakes.
I wish he would have worked out but he isnt. I was still in his corner up until the middle of last year when I went to a series with the Braves and I saw the dumbest moves ever in a game and that was it for me and Hurdle.
I was afraid that if they would have got rid of Hurdle, Todd would have been pissed and wanted to go also but now I think he wants Hurdle gone also.
Timberwolf
04-16-2005, 10:55 PM
I still think Clint is a very good manager.
Rockies are playing hard tonight.
He and Eric Wedge are two of the up-and-coming managers in baseball I think.

What a play by Todd. Best player in baseball....

What a win tonight for the Rockies.
This team showed guts, character, determination, and everything. I am so proud of them. They showed me something. It was great to see those guys win. I love watching them and I have a lot of respect for their players. They hunkered down big time tonight.
It was nice to get some hits and get two-big out hits. Rockies played Earl Weaver style of baseball tonight. It was nice to get bloop singles and it was nice to run. This team played Twins-like baseball.
How about Joe Kennedy? Talk about a pick-me-up. WOW! He was great and he was awesome with his bat. I wonder why Clint never had him pitch a complete game.
The pen was good. Yeah Tsao gave us some excitment, but he found a way to win.
Nice W for the Rox.
I knew they would win tonight.
I expect them to win tommorow and win the Giants series. Beating the Giants would be so huge.
Congrats to Clint and the guys.
