The Oakland A's announced that they have signed SS Bobby Crosby to a 5-year deal worth approximately $13 million,that will keep him in Green and Gold throgh the 2009 season.

The 2004 AL Rookie of the Year has appeared in just 1 game this year,which was Opening Day in Baltimore.He was 1-2 in the gmae before landing on the DL because of a stress fracture in his 9th and 10th rib.

Crosby joins 6 other players who are signed beyond 2005.Those players are Eric Chavez(signed through 2010,club option for 2011),Keith Ginter(2006),Rich Harden(2008,club option for '09),Jason Kendall(2007),and Mark Kotsay(2006).

Scott Hatteberg,Barry Zito and Keiichi Yabu all have club options for 2006.

Nice to see Corsby and Rich Harden signed to long-term extensions. Those two are the cornerstone of the franchises.

Nice to see this new owner, Lewis Wolff having the money to sign these guys.

When is Crosby due back? A stress fracture can take a long time to heal!

Good job in getting him signed. Smart move by Oakland. He's a special player.
