Twins right-hander Kyle Lohse is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday after experiencing right shoulder stiffness during Thursday's start against the Royals.

Lohse left the game with a 2-0 count against Kansas City's David DeJesus in the fifth inning.

"I could kind of feel it as I was loosening up for that inning," Lohse said. "There was a little pain in there. I tried to throw through it, but it wasn't working. I'll get the MRI and see what it says."

Lohse said he hasn't had arm problems his entire career.

"I want to know what it is," Lohse said. "Hopefully, I'll go in tomorrow and get good results.

Good riddance.

Look I don't want to see him get hurt, but he has been so tiring to watch. He is not getting it done so it's blessing in disguise. I am really sorry to say this.

He had only 3 runs in the last game. In the AL that is a great game. I would take that any day in the AL. Also he is young and you just cant give up on a young guy. He will be a good pitcher for some team some day.

What would have happened if the Expos or M's would have gave up on Randy Johnson because he was to wild and couldnt stop walking people? You got to give them the ball...

Lohse has had ample opportunity to produce...one start doesn't save him from 3 years of bad pitching.... He seem sto hit a wall in the 5th or 6th inning where he just starts throwing cannon fodder... we either need to realize we only have a 4-5 Inning pitcher...or we need to trade him for whatever prospect we can get

Kyle was okay in his first two starts this year, but I keep waiting for him to implode. He gets a 3-0 lead against the Royals the other day yet he blew that lead on one bad inning. I am so sick and tired of it. He meltsdown one inning and kills the team. He has been doing this forever. How about showing some gumption? Another thing. This guy can't even go deep in the game. He is done after 4 or 5 innings. For the money he is making, that is unacceptable. How the hell did he won his arbitration is way beyond me?

He had 3 runs in the last game? You realize had he stayed in that game against KC on Thursday, he would have blown up and lost that game. He was taken out with runners in scoring position thanks to an injury in his back. Thank God Matt Guerrier got the Twins out of it or they would have been behind 5-3. Had Kyle stayed in the game, you know he would implode in that inning where he gave up couple of hits and then left with an injury.

He is young? He may be young, but at some point, he needs to improve and show some toughness. He has not done that for four years. I am still waiting to see some improvement. If there is someone in the minors that are better than Kyle, start him. Twins are contending for the division this year. The division will be tough so they can't wait for Kyle to grow up and start acting like a pitcher. Kyle either has it or don't. Kyle just does not have it. Terry Mullholland and Rick Anderson can give him so many wisdoms, but the bottom line is Kyle needs to pitch and he has never gotten it done.

Experience matters and has huge dividends. Look at the Tigers pitching staff when most if not all were first year starters in the MLB. A guy from the minors could come out and post good numbers when needed but don't count on them to produce as well as a seasoned starter. Look at the great game Gassner posted then got burned in the next start; replace Lohse with a guy from the minors and that is what you look forward to all season because Gassner is the best the minors have to offer or he would not have been the one called up for the start. Also, ask the Tiger fans if they enjoyed a whole season of fresh meat pitchers...you would be on the edge of your seat from the first pitch hoping that the other team wouldn't start hitting them hard.

Hopefully Lohse is okay.

What difference does it make with a rookie on the mound and Kyle Lohse on the mound? They are both going to stink. I rather take my chances on this kid, Scott Baker than seeing Kyle implode again.

I am sure Tigers fans enjoyed seeing Bonderman grow.

It is great to see pitchers grow but with what I see as a neck-to-neck race between the Sox and Twins for the division I don't know if we can afford a deliberate growing time for a fresh pitcher. If Lohse is out for a while then we deal with it and hope the newbie steps up. If you look at the Tigers though when they had all their newbie pitchers they had no expectations to meet which creates a better startup atmosphere for new pitchers. Bring a newbie into the role of helping their team defend the Central Division title with what appears to be a close match between the Sox and Twins and the environment is not as conducive for a fresh pitcher to find his groove.

I think the Tigers and Indians will definitely be in this race. Detroit has played well and it's a matter of time till the Indians start playing well. This division is going to be really good.

I agree with what you said about young pitchers, Les. With that said, it can't be worse. Lohse has done little to earn that job. If not, Scott Baker then get Terry Mullholland out there to pitch.
