Mohr, who suffered a left calf strain while rushing from the dugout to celebrate Clint Barmes' game-winning homer in the opener, will be activated for Friday night's game at Los Angeles.

Mohr signed a one-year, $1.05 million contract with the Rockies with hopes of proving that he's more than the part-time player he has been with Minnesota and San Francisco. His enthusiasm is one reason the Rockies banked on Mohr (.262, 29 home runs, 114 RBIs in 379 career games), celebration injuries notwithstanding. But he realizes that what makes him special could get him into trouble.

I like Mohr. I think he could be a good fit in CR but if the Rox are going to go young and play the young guys then KEEP BRAD HAWPE IN!!!!!!!!!

Hawpe could be a great freaking player and I think you are holding him back!!!!!!

But then again this is Hurdle we are dealing with and the only reason Holliday got his shot was because everyone else was hurt and they had to play him and he keep playing so good they had to keep him in even as much as Hurdle benched him at times. :eviltongu

Shad, I think that Mohr is going to do some damage as a hitter. He's good. Give him a true chance to play everyday and I think he might be the answer to backing up Helton. He's got some power, he hits for average. He's a smart hitter.

I like HAwpe too but I just think that Mohr could offer more.

Couldn't agree with you more Durango. Dustan Mohr is a decent OF and would make a good 4th OF on just about any team, but a 4th OF is all he is. The Rockies aren't going anywhere this year so why not give Hawpe the playing time and experience along with youngsters like Barmes, Atkins and Closser? This team is going to be fun to watch for the next several years.

TC, I dunno, I don't think Mohr has ever had a true chance to play everyday, therefore, that's why he's only considered a 4th OF. But give the guy a true shot and then if he tanks, give the job to Hawpe. I love watching the kids play, always willing to get rid of the aging veteran for the kids getting experience. But I don't think that Mohr has ever had a real shot. Just my opinion :notme:

JA, there's a reason why Mohr has never had a "real" shot. He's not a bad ballplayer, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't hit for a lot of power and he only has average speed. He's a serviceable player and a fine role player, IMO, but Hawpe's upside is far greater. If someone were to go down with an injury, Mohr would be great to have on your bench but I don't feel he has enough to offer on an everyday basis. I wouldn't mind having him on the Astros right now

Funny the Astros was the team I was thinking also of trading him to.

JA do you see Mohr as the guy that will be in RF in 4 years with the Rox? He signed a 1 year contract. Hawpe playing part time is already 3rd in RBI's on this team. Mohr isnt the guy that is going to strike fear in pitchers for them not to pitch to Helton.

I do like Mohr also and last year or the year before he is a great fit for this team. But I just dont feel this year he is that fit because the Rox going young.

But that is all just my thoughts. I do wish him luck and hope he does good.
