GAME: Colorado Rockies (6-14) at Los Angeles Dodgers (14-8).
TIME: Saturday, 10:10 p.m. EDT.
Brad Penny makes his first home start of the season for the Los Angeles Dodgers when they continue a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies.
Penny made his season debut Sunday at Colorado and surrendered four runs and six hits in five-plus innings, but did not receive a decision in Los Angeles' 8-6 win. Penny was making just his second start since suffering a right biceps injury last August at Dodger Stadium.
"I've waited a long time and I wanted to pitch," Penny said. "It was cold, it was hard to get loose, but these are the conditions you want to pitch in here. "
This will mark just the third start for Penny at Dodger Stadium since he was acquired by Los Angeles before the trade deadline last season. He injured the muscle against Philadelphia on Aug. 8 after throwing only 14 pitches.
The 26-year-old right-hander is 3-1 with a 2.56 ERA in seven career starts against the Rockies.
Los Angeles ended its three-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory in Friday's series opener. Hee Seop Choi connected for his first career grand slam in the fifth and Odalis Perez allowed one run and three hits over seven innings.
Colorado fell to 1-8 on the road despite another big effort from rookie Clint Barmes, who went 2-for-3 to raise his major league-leading average to .430. Barmes is batting .444 (8-for-18) with six runs scored in four games against Los Angeles this season.
The Rockies will turn to Joe Kennedy on Saturday to try to get their second road win. Kennedy is 3-0 with a 1.57 ERA in three career starts against the Dodgers.
This is Kennedy's first start since he pitched two innings Wednesday against Philadelphia in a game that was postponed by snow. He is 0-2 with a 10.45 ERA in a pair of road starts this season.
