<b>Sunday broadcast includes features just for youngsters</b>
MILWAUKEE -- They might not have the same purchasing power as their parents, but the grade-school demographic is nonetheless the target for Daron Sutton, Bill Schroeder & Co. for Sunday's Brewers-Astros series finale.
The Emmy Award-winning FSN North broadcast team will air what its calling a "Kidscast" on Sunday afternoon, and will introduce a number of features aimed at the Brewers' young fans. It's an idea first suggested by Sutton, according to producer John Walsh.
If it works, "Kidscast" could become a more regular feature.
"You never know. If we get positive feedback, maybe we can do more things for kids," Walsh said.
The show will have a decidedly different look than the Brewers' regular broadcasts with specially-designed graphics aimed at kids. Features include Schroeder's "Bill's Basics," and tips from the former Major League catcher on how to keep a proper scorecard. It will also feature questions and answers from local Little Leaguers, an interview with manager Ned Yost explaining the double-switch and segments with Brewers players detailing their youth baseball memories. Reporter Bob Brainerd will tag along with Bernie Brewer on the concourses at Miller Park.
One kid, seven-year-old Danny Lundin, will be a part of the action. The FSN crew will plant a microphone on Lundin and check in as he scores the game from his seat behind the Brewers dugout.
Left-hander Chris Capuano is scheduled to face Houston's Andy Pettitte in a 1 p.m. CT start at Miller Park.
