<b><font size=4>Wrapping up the draft</font></b>
Brewers scouting director Jack Zduriencik & Co. made 32 selections on Day 2 of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft and will now tackle the process of signing and assigning the players they picked.
Several players have already signed or are close to signing, assistant general manager Gord Ash said. The Brewers will start announcing signees on Thursday, and according to the Danville Register & Bee, third-round pick Will Inman could be on that list.
Inman, a right-handed pitcher, told reporters that instead of attending Auburn University -- where a scholarship was waiting -- he will report to Phoenix in a few weeks to play for the Brewers of the Arizona rookie league.
According to Curtis Inman, Will's father, representatives of the Braves, Reds and Brewers began calling on Monday night expressing interest. A tentative deal was struck with an offer from the Brewers of $500,000, an amount normally reserved for second-round players. Milwaukee did not have a second-round draft pick.
"They called and asked if they gave him the same money as a second round pick would he come," Curtis Inman said. "[Will] said he didn't care as far as what round he was drafted as long as the money was the same."
Said Will Inman: "It looks pretty good right now."
Inman is 12-0 this season and holds Virginia records for wins in a season, career wins, strikeouts in a season and career strikeouts.
