Lions: Johnson placed on injured reserve
The News
The Lions placed wide receiver Kevin Johnson on injured reserve Monday, ending his season. Johnson suffered a ruptured right Achilles' tendon during Sunday's game against the Browns.
Our View
This receiving corps, once a deep talent pool, is now Nicole Richie-thin because of injuries (Johnson, Roy Williams, Eddie Drummond) and suspension (Charles Rogers). All of which serves to make this week's game against the mighty Bears defense even more of a mismatch.

Packers: Flanagan set to return
The News
Packers center Mike Flanagan, who has missed the last two games with a hernia, will likely return to action against the Bengals this Sunday. "Mike Flanagan did some things off the field away from practice last week. He looked pretty good and hopefully he'll be ready to go this week," head coach Mike Sherman told the Green Bay Press Gazette on Monday. "There's no guarantee for that, but we're planning on him practicing on Wednesday."
Our View
The Packers can use all the good news they can get. They might have to become more of a pass-first offense with Ahman Green done for the year, so having Flanagan back will certainly help the line in pass protection.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 2:10 PM ET
Lions: Rogers has sprained MCL
The News
Lions Pro Bowl defensive tackle Shaun Rogers has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee and is considered week-to-week. Rogers injured his knee during their week seven win over the Browns.
Our View
Losing Rogers for any period of time would be a huge blow to the Lions defense. He is a tremendous run stuffer and arguably their best player on either side of the ball. Unfortunately for the defense, their second-best defensive player, cornerback Dre Bly, has a dislocated wrist and might need surgery. This is potentially good news for those fanatsy owners with Thomas Jones and Muhsin Muhammad this week.

Packers: Mitchell in for a workout
The News
Free agent wide receiver Freddie Mitchell is among several players at Packers headquarters today working out for team officials. The Packers are considering signing a wide receiver and a running back in the wake of Sunday's injuries to Robert Ferguson and Ahman Green. Mitchell was cut by the Eagles back on May 6 and later was signed by the Chiefs, who released him after he tore the meniscus in his knee during training camp.
Our View
Mitchell has been the only name leaked, but the team will need to sign someone within 24 hours in order to get them up to speed in practice this week so we should know something soon. Regardless of who signs they will not have any fantasy value…not yet anyways.

Broncos: Jake protecting the football
The News
Quarterback Jake Plummer has not thrown an interception in 136 straight pass attempts, three shy of his career high. "Jake is doing well," head coach Mike Shanahan told the Denver Post. "He's making good decisions."
Our View
Jake is making good decisions because the Broncos are encouraging him to make fewer, period. In rushing for 943 yards in their last five games, Plummer's chances have been minimized. He's averaging just over 15 completions per game and is on pace for barely 3,000 passing yards on the season. Last year he had a career-high 4,089.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Packers: Green might be done in Green Bay
The News
Injured running back Ahman Green may have played his final game with the Packers. He will become a free agent at the end of the season, but his torn quadriceps tendon will likely prevent him from even working out with teams until around the time training camps open, at the earliest. Asked Monday whether Green might have played his last game as a Packer, general manager Ted Thompson sidestepped the question: "It hasn't been a thought of mine," Thompson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "You hate to lose a player to injury, certainly someone of Ahman's caliber. The priority now is to make sure he gets healthy."
Our View
No, the priority now is to make sure you figure out which running back you want to take in the first round of the draft next year. At this rate the Packers will have a high pick, and this will be a deep draft for backs. Green will be 29 in February and was showing obvious signs of wearing down before tearing his quad tendon. This is a very serious injury, and there has to be some doubt whether he will come back at nearly the same level.

Falcons: Smith injures toe
The News
Falcons defensive end Brady Smith was carted off the field during Monday's win over the Jets. He was later diagnosed with a dislocated right toe, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Smith has eight tackles and three sacks this season.
Our View
Smith has an extra week to rest the injury thanks to the team's week eight bye, but his status for week nine against the Dolphins is in question.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:56 AM ET
Jets: Barton done for the year
The News
Linebacker Eric Barton, who played on Monday night for the first time in three games, suffered a torn left triceps against the Falcons and will miss the remainder of the season, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. Barton, who had just nursed a sprained ankle back to health, hurt himself on the first Jets defensive play of the game.
Our View
Barton led the Jets with 125 tackles last season, and will be sorely missed. He'll be replaced by Mark Brown, who filled in for Barton the last three games.

Buccaneers: Wilma cancels practice
The News
The Buccaneers were unable to practice on Monday due to Hurricane Wilma, according to the Tampa Tribune. Players attended meetings and workout sessions, but they were unable to practice outdoors.
Our View
This is bad news for quarterback Chris Simms, who needs all the practice time he can get before he makes his first start of the season on Sunday against the 49ers. The lost practice also prevents us from giving an update on running back Carnell Williams, who is expected to return after missing the last two games with arch and hamstring injuries.

Redskins: Hall-Novak decision coming later this week
The News
Redskins kicker John Hall continues to improve and will practice again this week. He's been out since September 11 due to a strained right quad. Head coach Joe Gibbs will wait until later this week to choose between Hall and Nick Novak. "We'll continue to work with that and we'll see. We'll see what it looks like toward the end of the week," Gibbs told the team's official web site.
Our View
We'll let you know later this week what the team decides, but fantasy owners should not be relying on Redskins kicker at this point.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:48 AM ET
Panthers: Foster still nursing knee injury
The News
Panthers running back DeShaun Foster did not practice on Monday due to the knee injury he suffered in week seven. The Charlotte Observer labels the injury as a knee bruise. Foster's status for Sunday's game against the Vikings has not been determined.
Our View
Head coach John Fox said last week he thought that Foster would be healthy enough to play on Sunday. Nonetheless, we'll keep fantasy owners posted on Foster's status throughout the week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:46 AM ET
Panthers: Peppers to play despite hand injury
The News
Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers said Monday that he won't let a broken hand prevent him from playing against the Vikings on Sunday. "I will play," Peppers told the Rock Hill Herald. "I'm expecting to play like I normally play." Peppers broke his right hand back in week seven.
Our View
Julius is scheduled to return to practice on Wednesday. He is wearing a soft cast, but he has three fingers and his thumb free, so it shouldn't be too limited by the protective device.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:46 AM ET
Falcons: White inactive following demotion
The News
In week six, Dez White was a starting wide receiver. On Monday night, he was declared inactive for the game against the Jets. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that White was a healthy scratch on Monday night, just days after he was demoted from the No. 2 wide receiver role.
Our View
White's demotion was long overdue. Head coach Jim Mora has previously tried to defend White's lack of ability by claiming that he was on the field due to his blocking ability, but apparently the second-year head coach has run out of excuses. Brian Finneran has assumed White's spot in the starting lineup.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:45 AM ET
Redskins: Griffin day-to-day
The News
Redskins defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin is day-to-day after straining a hip flexor during Sunday's game against the 49ers. "Cornelius is a little bit of a concern," head coach Joe Gibbs told the team's official web site on Monday. "We'll probably have to take some time off with him to get him ready [for Sunday]."
Our View
The Redskins defense thrives on its ability to replace any player at any time, but it would be pretty tough to truly replace Griffin. He's the rock at the heart of their defensive line, and they definitely want him in there for Sunday's clash with the rival Giants. We'll update Griffin's status later in the week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:45 AM ET
Seahawks: Jurevicius' injury not a concern
The News
Seahawks wide receiver Joe Jurevicius had to leave Sunday's game against the Cowboys with a shoulder stinger. However, head coach Mike Holmgren said Monday that the eight-year veteran will be fine, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Jurevicius has caught two touchdown passes over the last three weeks.
Our View
The Seahawks have a bye in week eight, so Jurevicius has a full week to rest the injury. Based on Holmgren's comments, we expect Joe to be in the starting lineup when the Seahawks visit the Cardinals in week nine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:39 AM ET
Panthers: Morgan plans to play
The News
Dan Morgan sat out of practice on Monday with a left shoulder injury. However, the Panthers starting linebacker plans to play on Sunday against the Vikings. "I'll be limited, but I'll just go out there and play," Morgan told the Charlotte Observer. Morgan dislocated his shoulder during the week seven win over the Lions.
Our View
Morgan suffered a similar injury that required surgery three seasons ago. He plans to wear a harness to protect the shoulder when the Vikings come to town this weekend.

Eagles: Akers getting close
The News
The Eagles finally released some positive news on kicker David Akers Monday. He's been out since tearing his right quad muscle on September 25, but he could return to practice this week and play this Sunday. If he doesn't return in week eight, the team is optimistic Akers will be back in week nine. "If he's not back this week, he'll be back the next week," head coach Andy Reid told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We will see how he does by Wednesday."
Our View
Akers has basically been working without a timetable since suffering this injury, and it's nice to finally have an idea of when he might be back. We'll check back throughout the week to see if Akers or Todd France will handle the kicking duties this Sunday against the Broncos.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:27 AM ET
Giants: Burress getting shoulder checked out
The News
Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress injured his right shoulder late in Sunday's game against the Broncos. The injury is not believed to be serious, but he's getting the joint checked out. "He came out and went back in and finished the game," head coach Tom Coughlin told the Newark Star-Ledger. "But we're running all the tests on that. He's sore."
Our View
We'll definitely check back for updates to Plax's status, and fantasy owners will want to make sure he's okay before using him in week eight. We'll consider him probable until more is known.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:24 AM ET
Texans: Johnson returning to practice
The News
Wide receiver Andre Johnson, who was inactive Sunday after aggravating a calf injury the previous week, will return to practice on a limited basis this week. "What I'd like to anticipate is Andre Johnson coming back," Texans coach Dom Capers told the Houston Chronicle.
Our View
Johnson left the week six loss to Tennessee after one play, and after the game indicated he had aggravated a calf injury that had been bothering him since week two. The Texans desperately need some sort of kick start offensively, and the combination of Johnson's return and the Cleveland Browns defense might just do the trick this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:21 AM ET
Falcons: Lavalais a late scratch
The News
The Falcons played Monday night's win over the Jets without starting defensive tackle Chad Lavalais. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the second-year lineman's lower back locked up during pregame warmups about an hour before kickoff. Antwan Lake took over for Lavalais in the starting lineup.
Our View
Lavalais has a week off to rest his back because the Falcons have a bye in week eight. He should be ready to play when the Falcons visit the Dolphins in week nine.

October 25, 2005 11:19 AM ET
Giants: Green to see specialist
The News
Giants linebacker Barrett Green will visit a specialist on Tuesday to determine if he needs surgery in his ailing right ankle, Newsday reported. Green has missed five of the team's six games. He previously underwent an operation on the joint in February.
Our View
The Giants have been operating without Green, but with Carlos Emmons potentially out for the year, Barrett's status becomes more critical. We'll update Green's situation when more is known.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:11 AM ET
Giants: Emmons awaits MRI
The News
Giants linebacker Carlos Emmons injured his right pectoral muscle on Sunday and underwent an MRI on Monday. If the muscle is torn, his season would likely be over. "He extended himself to make the tackle and missed the tackle, and his arms were ripped through on the attempt to tackle," head coach Tom Coughlin explained to the team's official web site. Emmons currently ranks fourth on the team in tackles.
Our View
The Giants have already been working without linebacker Barrett Green and losing Emmons would be another blow to the middle of their defense. We'll update his status as soon as the results are known.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 11:11 AM ET
Rams: No guarantee Martz will be back
The News
Rams team president John Shaw declined to guarantee that head coach Mike Martz will return next year. "There's still some uncertainty about how long it will take him to recover and when he recovers," Shaw told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Monday. "We will watch as Mike gets better over the next several months." Martz is taking off the remainder of the year due to a heart infection.
Our View
Martz tried to suggest a play during Sunday's win over the Saints, but a team official refused to forward the message to offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild. Team officials claim they wanted Martz to get his rest, but this will only add to the speculation that the Mad Scientist's days are numbered in St. Louis.

October 25, 2005 11:08 AM ET
Bears: Clark coming on
The News
After scoring two touchdowns against the Vikings in week seven, Bears tight end Desmond Clark continued his strong play by leading the team in receiving in week eight with 50 yards on four catches. "That's what I bring to the table," Clark told the Chicago Tribune. "I want to stretch the field. I want to make plays in the red zone. Those third-and-fours, I want to be the guy."
Our View
While scoring against the Vikings isn't all that impressive given their track record with opposing tight ends, we have to admit taking notice of Clark against the Ravens. He made critical catches on both of Chicago's scoring drives and was a constant target for Kyle Orton. The Bears don't exactly have an embarrassment of riches at wide receiver, so Des is worth keeping an eye on in deeper, tight end-mandatory leagues. And of course, note that he'll face the Vikes once more this season.

Cardinals: Lee released following sideline dispute
The News
The Cardinals cut wide receiver Charles Lee on Monday. The move came just a day after he argued with special teams coach Kevin O'Dea on the sideline, according to the Arizona Republic. Lee had 11 receptions for 152 yards this season.
Our View
Lee has already apologized for his actions and should catch on elsewhere. He had been the No. 4 wide receiver on the Cardinals' depth chart.

Chargers: Edwards sustains knee injury
The News
Linebacker Donnie Edwards appeared on the Chargers' post-game injury report from week seven with a knee injury, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He will be re-evaluated later in the week.
Our View
This doesn't appear to be serious, but we'll keep an eye on it nonetheless given the importance of the Bolts inside linebacker.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:57 AM ET
Cardinals: Green mum on starting quarterback again
The News
For the second straight week, Cardinals head coach Dennis Green claims he has not thought about who will be his starting quarterback, according to the Arizona Republic. Green will choose between Josh McCown and Kurt Warner sometime between now and Sunday when the Cardinals visit the Cowboys.
Our View
Here we go again. McCown didn't play well against the Titans on Sunday, but it's hard to argue with the fact that he has won two of three starts this year whereas Warner was winless in his three starts. For that matter, the Cardinals are averaging nearly 10 more points per game when McCown starts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:50 AM ET
Raiders: Grove nearing return
The News
Starting center Jake Grove, who has missed the last two games after arthroscopic knee surgery, may be available in week eight against the Titans, the Oakland Tribune reports.
Our View
The Raiders running game didn't seem to miss a beat with Adam Treu at center last week, but this can only be only good news for LaMont Jordan and Kerry Collins.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:45 AM ET
Raiders: Woodson, Gibson out six-to-eight weeks
The News
Starting cornerback Charles Woodson and safety Derrick Gibson will both miss the next six-to-eight weeks with a broken leg and a dislocated wrist, respectively. Both are possibilities for the season-ending injured reserve list, according to the Oakland Tribune. They will be replaced in the lineup with rookie corner Fabian Washington and veteran safety Renaldo Hill.
Our View
The Raiders weren't exactly monsters on defense even with Woodson and Gibson. Oakland ranks 25th against the pass in terms of yardage (228 per game) and has allowed nine touchdown passes in six games.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:36 AM ET
Seahawks: Engram on the mend
The News
Seahawks wide receiver Bobby Engram returned to practice on Monday. The Seattle Times reports that Engram was running and cutting during an individual workout, and should resume full workouts when the team returns to practice next week after their bye. Engram has missed the last three games with a pair of fractured ribs.
Our View
Fantasy owners who need help at wide receiver should strongly consider adding Engram to their rosters if he is still available. Although he has yet to score a touchdown, Bobby did top the 75-yard mark in three of the four games he played in. He will likely assume the role of featured wideout until Darrell Jackson returns from knee surgery.

October 25, 2005 10:33 AM ET
Jets: Kendall takes the blame for fumbles
The News
Center Pete Kendall placed the blame for Vinny Testaverde's three fumbles on himself after an embarrassing loss to the Falcons on Monday night. Kendall told the Newark Star-Ledger he short-armed a snap that led to a fumble, failed to call out the correct protection call on Vinny's second fumble, and missed a block on the third. "I'm the reason we lost this game tonight," Kendall said. "I stunk tonight. My mistakes were disastrous. They cost us the game."
Our View
Kendall was being a bit hard on himself, as Vinny didn't do much to help him out, but he also clearly didn't look comfortable at center early in the game. Expect Kendall, normally a very able lineman, to play better from here out, but there is no mistaking the fact that the Jets will sorely miss Mawae for the remainder of the year.

Texans: Davis to be limited
The News
Running back Domanick Davis will practice on a limited basis this week due to a wrist injury, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Our View
Davis is perennially nicked, but he's also the only bright spot in Houston's offense. A little less practice time shouldn't prevent him from having a monster day this weekend against a Browns defense that hasn't had success stopping the run in more than a decade.

Cowboys: Nguyen likely to play Sunday
The News
Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen is likely to play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He's missed three straight contests due to a pinched nerve in his neck. "I just didn't think he was mentally ready to go," head coach Bill Parcells told the Dallas Morning News about his decision to sit Nguyen this past Sunday. "I think he still had a little uncertainty about it."
Our View
Nguyen has spent the past few weeks trying to regain strength in the area, and the team and he are worried about him coming back before he's satisfied with the results. However, it sounds like he's very close, and the Cowboys should get their tackle machine back very soon.

49ers: Smith isn't a lock to play
The News
49ers quarterback Alex Smith was limping in the locker room while wearing a bag of ice on his sprained right knee. Although head coach Mike Nolan previously stated that Smith is probable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Smith wasn't so sure. "We'll have to kind of play it by ear," Smith told the San Jose Mercury News on Monday. "We'll see. Hopefully we'll get the swelling to go down." The rookie has yet to throw a touchdown pass or top the 100-yard passing mark.
Our View
Smith has fluid built up around his knee and the Niners are hopeful he will start feeling better over the next couple of days. Ken Dorsey would get the start if Smith is unable to go. Either way, we don't recommend using either quarterback against a defense that has only allowed two passing scores all season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:24 AM ET
Chiefs: Warfield regains starting job
The News
Cornerback Eric Warfield made his season debut in week seven following a four-game suspension and played well enough to regain the starting job he owned last year. Warfield will replace injured corner Dexter McCleon (groin) opposite Patrick Surtain. McCleon missed week seven and is questionable for this Sunday.
Our View
The Chiefs secondary needs help in a big way, ranking 30th in the NFL against the pass, and Warfield was by far their best corner last season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:21 AM ET
Dolphins: Evans released
The News
Fullback Heath Evans was released by the Dolphins on Monday. He was replaced on the roster by free agent fullback Darian Barnes.
Our View
Evans had started two games and played extensively in every game so far this season. Perhaps his release had something to do with the fact that Chiefs' defenders were in the backfield all night last Friday, hitting Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown (except on his 65-yard touchdown run) just moments after they took the handoff on most of the Dolphins' running plays.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Broncos: Both backs on pace for 1,000 yards
The News
Starter Mike Anderson and backup Tatum Bell are vying to become the fourth running back tandem in NFL history to each gain 1,000 rushing yards, according to the Denver Post. As it stands, Anderson is on pace for 1,093 yards and Bell for 1,040.
Our View
As you can see, with the two sharing carries, there isn't a whole lot of margin for error, and the two runners will have to stay healthy throughout to maintain this pace.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:08 AM ET
Cowboys: Backfield remains a committee approach
The News
Cowboys running back Marion Barber had a breakout game on Sunday, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's now Julius Jones' primary backup. "I would like to see (Barber) do a better job with the ball," head coach Bill Parcells told the team's official web site. "But I think he's a pretty good runner and I think he's a pretty good pass blocker. And he can catch. So I'm hoping he comes along. Looks like it's going to be by committee here for a little while."
Our View
Our impression at this point is that Barber is slightly ahead of Thomas and Thompson on the depth chart, but it's not a landslide. All three running backs have been the featured ball-carrier during the time that Jones has been out, and with Julius possibly out again this Sunday, all three could be in the mix against the Cardinals.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 25, 2005 10:00 AM ET
Cowboys: Parcells not sure Jones will play Sunday
The News
Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells took a pessimistic stance on running back Julius Jones' status Monday. Jones has missed the last two games due to a high left ankle sprain, and he's questionable for week eight. "It doesn't look good for Jones," the coach told the Dallas Morning News. "I'm hopeful we'll get over this. I think that's why we're having a tendency to not really push it, because I don't want him to have a reoccurrence and have him be out for the rest of the year."
Our View
High ankle sprains are notoriously tough to assess, and Parcells is probably a little frustrated with how long it's taking. The Cowboys are on bye in week nine, and while that won't stop Parcells from using Jones if the running back proves he's healthy, Julius will likely sit this week if he's anything less than 100 percent.

Giants: Burress sits out
The News
Giants wideout Plaxico Burress didn't practice on Wednesday because of the shoulder injury he suffered on Sunday, reports the team's website. He is currently questionable for this week's game against the Redskins.
Our View
The injury is not considered serious, and as long as he returns to practice before the week is over, it is safe to include Plax in your lineup.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 11:38 PM ET
Steelers: Ward doesn't practice
The News
Hines Ward got Wednesday off from practice, reports the team's website. The Steelers wideout is probable for Monday night's game against the Ravens because of his lingering hamstring problems.
Our View
The Steelers get an extra day to rest this week because their game is on Monday night, so fantasy owners shouldn't be too worried about Ward taking Wednesday off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 11:31 PM ET
Ravens: Lewis ruled out of Monday night
The News
The Ravens have classified linebacker Ray Lewis as out on their injury report because of the strained right hamstring he suffered last week.
Our View
Bart Scott took Lewis' spot in the middle of the defense on Sunday and will do so again this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 11:26 PM ET
49ers: Smith downgraded to questionable
The News
The 49ers downgraded rookie quarterback Alex Smith to questionable on their injury report Wednesday. He is dealing with strained right knee that was suffered last week.
Our View
Ken Dorsey would get the start if Smith can't go, but you want no part of either of them this week against the Buccaneers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 11:22 PM ET
Buccaneers: Cadillac back on the practice field
The News
Buccaneers running back Carnell Williams, who is questionable on the injury report with a sprained left arch, returned to practice on Wednesday and participated in all of the drills, reports the team's website. "He looked okay to me today," head coach Jon Gruden told the site. "He's got to get back into his rhythm as a football player. He's been out for some time. We expect him to play, to be honest with you, but I can't say any more than that. We'll see how he feels tomorrow and hopefully he feels better and can perform more and more as the week unfolds."
Our View
The team is optimistic that Williams will be able to get back on the field this Sunday, but we'll continue to track his practice attendance to make sure he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 11:02 PM ET
Cardinals: McCown named the starter
The News
The Cardinals will know their starting quarterback prior to game time this week. ESPN's Len Pasquarelli is reporting that Josh McCown will be the team's starter once again this week against the Cowboys. McCown has been the team's starter since Kurt Warner went down with a groin injury in week three.
Our View
McCown isn't a strong play this week against the Cowboys and Green has made no promises about his status as the starter after Sunday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 10:55 PM ET
Titans: Jones considered day-to-day
The News
The Titans consider wideout Brandon Jones day-to-day following the knee injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, head coach Jeff Fisher told the team's website on Wednesday. He is listed as questionable for this weekend.
Our View
The team got some good news this week when the MRI on Jones' revealed no serious damage, but he will still likely be a game-time decision if he plays on Sunday.

October 26, 2005 10:40 PM ET
Raiders: Moss questionable this week
The News
The Raiders have classified wideout Randy Moss as questionable on their injury report this week with his strained groin, bruised ribs, and a pelvic bruise. He played through the injuries last week and caught a touchdown pass.
Our View
Moss was listed as doubtful all last week and played, so fantasy owners should tentatively include him in their plans this week.

Lions: Williams gets some practice in
The News
Lions wideout Roy E. Williams got some work in during Wednesday's practice, but he was unable to participate in the entire session. "Yeah, [Roy Williams] came out and padded up," head coach Steve Mariucci told the team's website. "He did pat-and-go and then he did some individual drills. But when we start throwing routes you want that to be full speed so we can time some things up and he's not full speed, especially in practice. So it's probably not well enough to go full speed just yet." He hasn't played since suffering a strained quadriceps in week five and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Our View
Mariucci has stated that Williams won't take the field until he can make it through an entire practice at full speed. He still isn't there yet, so fantasy owners shouldn't be risking a lineup spot on him.

Panthers: Delhomme not on the injury report
The News
Panther quarterback Jake Delhomme isn't on the injury report this week despite being knocked out of week six's win over the Lions with a head injury.
Our View
The week off was obviously enough to cure Delhomme of any ills he had as a result of the knockout blow. Use him as you normally would.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 10:34 PM ET
Saints: Horn at practice
The News
Saints wideout Joe Horn was able to participate in the team portion of practice on Wednesday, reports the team's website. He is listed as questionable on the injury report with a strained hamstring that has sidelined him for the last month.
Our View
Fantasy owners should still be leery of using Horn, as he has practiced before only to be inactive or put up a zero on game day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 10:03 PM ET
Chiefs: Parker's knee has him questionable
The News
Chiefs wideout Samie Parker missed Wednesday's practice because of a left knee sprain, according to the team's website. He is questionable for Sunday.
Our View
Parker doesn't have much fantasy value when healthy and he has even less now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 9:54 PM ET
Rams: Bruce continues individual workouts
The News
Rams wideout Isaac Bruce has been more involved in some of the individual drills during practice but hasn't yet been able to practice fully because of his injured toe, the team's website reported on Wednesday. He is questionable for this week's game against the Jaguars.
Our View
It remains unlikely that Bruce will return to action this week, especially with the bye coming up next week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 9:41 PM ET
Jaguars: Taylor probable for Sunday
The News
The Jaguars have classified running back Fred Taylor as probable on their injury report because of the ankle injury he suffered in week five. He was unable to play in the team's week six game against the Steelers.
Our View
Taylor has a nice matchup with the Rams this week and is a good fantasy play if he actually suits up. Being listed as probable is a good sign for Freddie, but be sure to check back throughout the week to see if he is practicing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 9:22 PM ET
Rams: Holt starts the week as doubtful
The News
Rams wideout Torry Holt didn't practice on Wednesday and is listed as doubtful on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, reports the team's website. Holt suffered the injury in week five and played in week six before sitting out last week.
Our View
Holt's knee has seemingly worsened since he injured it as opposed to getting better. His status for this week is very iffy and fantasy owners need to make sure they have a backup plan ready in case he is unable to go again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 9:09 PM ET
Packers: Fisher misses practice
The News
Packers running back Tony Fisher is listed as probable on the injury report with an unspecified eye injury, but the Associated Press reported that he was unable to practice on Wednesday.
Our View
At least he isn't out for the season. The injury isn't considered serious and we expect Fisher to be in the Packers backfield Sunday against the Bengals.

Bengals: Another Wednesday off for Rudi
The News
Bengals running back Rudi Johnson was held out of Wednesday's practice in shoulder pads and sweat pants, reports the team's website. He is probable for Sunday with a knee injury.
Our View
Johnson is traditionally held out on Wednesdays and then practices Thursday and Friday. We expect that pattern to be followed again this week.

October 26, 2005 8:27 PM ET
Lions: Bly undergoes surgery on his wrist
The News
The Lions secondary lost Dr Bly for up to a month on Wednesday. The team's website is reporting that the cornerback underwent surgery to fix his dislocated right wrist and will miss three-to-four weeks. He suffered the injury during Sunday's win over the Browns.
Our View
Losing Bly is a big blow to the Lions. He had four interceptions in the last three games, including two in the end zone. He'll play with a cast when he returns.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 8:19 PM ET
Bears: Jones takes Wednesday off
The News
Bears running back Thomas Jones was absent from Wednesday's practice because of the sprained lateral collateral ligament in his right knee, according to the team's website. He suffered the injury in week five, but hasn't missed any games since. He is classified as probable on the team's injury report.
Our View
No need to worry about this. Jones has missed a few practices since suffering the injury but fantasy owners shouldn't take him out of the lineup unless he starts missing Sundays.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 8:06 PM ET
Patriots: Dillon misses part of practice
The News
Patriots running back Corey Dillon was unable to participate in the team portion of Wednesday's practice because of the ankle injury he suffered in week five. The injury kept him out of action in week six.
Our View
Bill Bellichick is notoriously tight lipped about injuries, so don't expect him to give any more information about Dillon than he has to. Patrick Pass will get another start if Dillon can't suit up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 8:06 PM ET
Bills: Williams sits out practice
The News
Bills offensive tackle Mike Williams missed practice on Wednesday to nurse his sore left ankle, reports the Associated Press. He is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.
Our View
Williams' backup, Greg Jerman, has already been ruled out of this week's game, so Mike may need to get on the field even if his ankle if far from full strength.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 7:33 PM ET
Cowboys: Jones misses practice once again
The News
Cowboys running back Julius Jones missed the team portion of practice again on Wednesday because of his high ankle sprain, reports the team's website. He has missed the last two games with the injury and remains questionable on the injury report.
Our View
Bill Parcells has already told the media he is disappointed at how much time Jones misses, but it appears he may be out another week. Unless Juice is able to practice by Friday, look elsewhere this week. Rookie Marion Barber got the ball over 20 times last week and appears to be the back who will take the most carries again this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 7:26 PM ET
Cardinals: Warner still on the injury report
The News
The Cardinals have classified quarterback Kurt Warner as questionable for this week's tilt with the Cowboys because of his groin injury. He suffered the injury in week three, but practiced all last week and could have played if he hadn't been benched in favor of Josh McCown.
Our View
Denny Green is once again refusing to name a starter, but Warner was healthly enough to play last week and the job remained with McCown.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 6:49 PM ET
Bengals: Pollack to be a game-time decision
The News
Bengals rookie linebacker David Pollack will be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest with the Packers because of the sprained knee he suffered last week, reports the team's website.
Our View
Pollack missed part of training camp and that holdout is a big reason he hasn't done much this season. Those with him in IDP leagues should keep him on the bench.

Browns: Suggs gets a pin removed
The News
Browns running back Lee Suggs had a pin removed from his broken thumb, reports the team's website. "We are going to work with him on range of motion and things like that," head coach Romeo Crennel said. "There is no change in the timetable." Suggs was slated to miss four-to-six weeks after injuring the thumb against the Bears in week five.
Our View
The Browns don't expect Suggs back until around week 11, which should give Reuben Droughns plenty of time to get a firm grip on the starting gig. Fantasy owners need to avoid Suggs unless he can work his away back into the starting lineup.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eagles: Akers ruled out
The News
Eagles kicker David Akers has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Broncos. "It's not where it needs to be," head coach Andy Reid told the team's official web site. Akers has not kicked since tearing his right hamstring on September 25. Jose Cortez will kick in his place.
Our View
Cortez was shaky with the Cowboys and is now working with another new holder and long-snapper. In other words, fantasy owners should seek another option this Sunday.

October 26, 2005 12:42 PM ET
Browns: Rideau elevated from practice squad
The News
Attempting to jump-start their struggling passing game, the Browns elevated wide receiver Brandon Rideau from their practice squad. The undrafted free agent from Kansas had seven catches for 84 yards in the preseason.
Our View
With starters Antonio Bryant and Dennis Northcutt largely ineffective, the Browns may also turn to first-round pick Braylon Edwards, who led the team with three catches last week against the Lions. The Browns also aren't too far away from replacing Trent Dilfer with rookie Charlie Frye.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 12:38 PM ET
Bears: Orton improving
The News
Since throwing five picks against the Bengals in week three, rookie quarterback Kyle Orton has thrown four touchdowns against only one interception in his last three outings. "Kyle has done a good job managing our offense the last few weeks," Bears head coach Lovie Smith told the Chicago Tribune.
Our View
Managing the offense doesn't get it done in fantasy leagues, as evidenced by Orton's 137 passing yards per game. It's good to see Orton improving and taking care of the football, but only as it relates to Thomas Jones and the Bears' productive rushing attack.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 12:32 PM ET
Bears: Benson practicing well
The News
Starter Thomas Jones is keeping rookie Cedric Benson off the field, but Bears brass continues to support their No. 1 draft pick. "It's not that we don't want to put [No.] 32 in,'' offensive coordinator Ron Turner told the Chicago Sun-Times."It's just hard to take 20 out…[we're] very pleased with the way [Benson's] running and what he's doing.''
Our View
Turner said Benson's efforts in preparing for last week's game were the best of his young career. Of course, fantasy owners would rather see some actual production on the field on Sundays, but this is at least a positive sign that the rookie is taking his role seriously.

Chiefs: Tynes gets NFL honors
The News
Chiefs kicker Lawrence Tynes earned himself AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors thanks to two 50-yard field goals in last week's win over the Dolphins. Tynes has made 12-of-14 field goals this season.
Our View
Tynes struggled throughout the preseason and early in the year, but he has not missed a triple since week two. His recent surge makes him an adequate bye-week fill-in.

Steelers: Haggans set to return
The News
Linebacker Clark Haggans, who recorded 16 tackles and three sacks through the first three games of the season before suffering a partially torn groin against the Patriots September 25, will return to the starting lineup Monday night against the Ravens. Steelers coach Bill Cowher indicated that James Harrison, who filled in for Haggans over the past three games, will still be involved and that Haggans will be eased back into the lineup.
Our View
Haggans is less than a month removed from groin surgery, so don't expect him to get 60 snaps in his first game back. In Harrison, the Steelers have enough linebacker depth to take their time with Haggans.

Chiefs: Roaf rests
The News
The Chiefs took advantage of the extra practice time stemming from last week's early game by returning to workouts on Tuesday, but they did so without offensive tackle Willie Roaf. The 10-time Pro Bowler rested the hamstring injury that caused him to miss time earlier this season, but he is expected to practice on Wednesday, according to the Kansas City Star.
Our View
The Chiefs offense was clicking on all cylinders last week, and we won't be concerned about this absence unless Roaf misses more practice this week.

Rams: Martz might not return next year
The News
Mike Martz may have called his final game as Rams head coach. Although team president John Shaw said Tuesday that he expects Martz to return in 2006, he did not rule out the possibility that contract squabbles could prevent that from happening. "I think his anticipation is that he's going to want an extension, and he's going to want to dictate terms of that extension," Shaw told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Tuesday. "At that point, I'm not sure that any of that's going to happen. Our view is that we'll have to wait and see. We'll have to wait and see how he is physically and wait and see as to what his expectations are." Martz has one year remaining on his contract.
Our View
We're not Martz fans, but the Rams front office is being incredibly cold to a guy who is taking time off to deal with a heart problem. Team officials could have simply declined to comment on the matter, but they seem to get a thrill out of kicking Martz while he's down. The infighting between Martz and certain front office members appears to be so intense that we'd be surprised if he returns next season. What effect this would have on the Rams fantasy friendly offense remains to be seen.

Colts: Strickland, Adibi released
The News
The Colts released defensive back Donald Strickland and defensive end Nathanial Adibi. Both were on injured reserve but would now be eligible to sign with and play for another team this season.
Our View
Strickland, a third-round pick in 2003, missed 23 of 39 possible regular-season games with groin, shoulder, and hamstring injuries. He aggravated his hamstring injury in the season opener and hadn't played since. Adibi, a fifth-round selection of the Steelers in 2004, was cut in training camp after failing to make the transition from end to linebacker. He joined the Titans briefly, was cut, then spent the season on Pittsburgh's practice squad. He signed with the Colts in the offseason but suffered a shoulder injury in mid-August. He's still never played a regular-season snap in the NFL.

Vikings: Williams pleads guilty to misdemeanor
The News
Vikings Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kevin Williams pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of disorderly conduct for a loud argument he had with his wife at their home on August 28. Williams accepted the misdemeanor in exchange for having two counts of domestic assault and two other counts of disorderly conduct dropped. He will be on probation for one year, pay a $1,000 fine, and receive counseling. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports the NFL will review the plea agreement to determine if discipline is warranted under the league's personal conduct policy.
Our View
There is a chance that Williams could be looking at a fine or a suspension from the league since he has a careless driving conviction on his record from two years ago when he was pulled over for suspicion of DUI. It's also not clear whether new owner Zygi Wilf would take any action in light of the team's newly-instituted code of conduct policy. By every statistical account, Williams is having a very disappointing season. Having this behind him should help, but obviously a suspension would not. If you have him in a league that uses IDP, stay tuned for possible league or team penalties.

October 26, 2005 11:25 AM ET
Titans: Committee back in session
The News
With Travis Henry returning from his four-game suspension and Chris Brown nicked up, the backfield-by-committee is back in session in Tennessee. Titans coach Jeff Fisher told The Tennessean he plans on splitting practice reps between Brown and Henry this week. "Getting Travis back is a good thing for us," Fisher said. "We would expect [Brown] back, but he is day to day."
Our View
Henry carried 31 times for 97 yards in three games before his suspension; Brown carried 39 times for 179 yards while Henry was around, and has added 60 carries, 230 yards, and two touchdowns to that total with Travis sidelined. While Brown has clearly been the more effective back, his shoulder stinger—the latest chapter in Brown's long and storied injury history—make him a risky fantasy play.

Patriots: Bruschi's status still unclear
The News
According to the Boston Globe, linebacker Ted Bruschi's role – if he plays at all – in week eight will likely be determined by how much he participates in full-contact practice, and how he reacts to that contact, this week. Bruschi remains on the physically unable to perform list, and the team has about two weeks left to determine if he is capable of playing before they'll have to either add him to the active roster or put him on injured reserve for the rest of the season. If they are to play him this Sunday, they'll have to remove him from the PUP by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, the Globe reports.
Our View
The only news here is that there is no news related to Bruschi. Given coach Bill Belichick's reluctance to reveal anything meaningful about any of his players' injuries, we aren't likely to know anything until game time on Sunday. Whatever happens, it seems logical the Patriots will take it slow with Bruschi, who is reportedly completely recovered from an offseason stroke. If you took a chance on Tedy in an IDP league, you shouldn't put him in your lineup until it's clear he's going to play, and play effectively.

Jets: Vinny has strained calf, questionable hold on job
The News
An MRI on Monday revealed that Vinny Testaverde has a strained lower right calf muscle, not a strained Achilles' tendon, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. The team was fearing the worst after Testaverde limped off the field in obvious discomfort during the third quarter of Monday's loss to the Falcons. Furthermore, head coach Herm Edwards wouldn't comment on who his starting quarterback would be in week nine when the Jets return to action following this week's bye. "I'm not trying to start a quarterback controversy," Edwards told the Star-Ledger. "Right now, we'll see where Vinny is at with his injury and we'll see what we're going to do. Anything is possible, but I'm not saying we're switching. You're asking me a question at this point I don't want to answer, because I don't have an answer, to be quite honest."
Our View
The good news is that Vinny is healthy. The bad news is that he looked awful on Monday night. Brooks Bollinger replaced him n the third quarter and completed 12-of-20 passes for 94 yards while directing one scoring drive, fueling speculation that the team might be in better hands with him at the helm. No matter who takes the reins in week nine, you don't want him directing your fantasy team into battle.

Falcons: Jenkins likely to play following bye
The News
Falcons wide receiver Michael Jenkins is expected to play in week nine against the Dolphins despite spraining his right ankle during Monday's win over the Jets, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Falcons have a bye in week eight.
Our View
If Jenkins can't play, either Roddy White, Dez White, or Jerome Pathon would assume his role in the starting lineup. Dez White was a starter before week seven when he was demoted to the role of No. 5 wide receiver.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 26, 2005 10:39 AM ET
Dolphins: Frerotte to stay the starter
The News
Head coach Nick Saban told the Miami Herald Gus Frerotte will continue to be the Dolphins' starting quarterback. "At this point, I'm not ready to say that changing quarterbacks is going to solve all our problems, so that's where it's at," Saban said on Tuesday. Frerotte completed just 11 of 29 pass attempts in week seven, and was eventually replaced by backup Sage Rosenfels, who threw a 77-yard touchdown pass on his first play of the game.
Our View
Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Frerotte, but it appears he'll have some leeway. Saban believes Frerotte's poor play is a function of the offense in general not clicking. While Frerotte managed to throw for two touchdowns in three of his first four games, he's completed less than half of his attempts four times and now has no touchdowns and one interception in his last two games combined. Needless to say, you shouldn't have Gus in your fantasy lineup.

The News
Falcons defensive end Brady Smith will be sidelined up to four weeks after dislocating his right big toe during the Monday night win over the Jets. Head coach Jim Mora didn't rule out the possibility of Smith playing in week nine following the team's bye, but he also conceded that Smith could miss as many as three games.

Giants: Plax sits again
The News
Giants wideout Plaxico Burress was absent from Thursday's practice because of the shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday's win over the Broncos, reports the team's website. He is questionable on the injury report for this week's game.
Our View
Burress has missed two days of practice this week and fantasy owners should begin to worry if he can't suit up on Friday.

Rams: Bruce downgraded to doubtful
The News
The Rams downgraded receiver Isaac Bruce to doubtful on their injury report after he missed Thursday's practice due turf toe, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bruce hasn't played since suffering the injury in week three.

Chargers: Kaeding can't kick
The News
Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding didn't practice on Thursday because of his back injury, reports the team's website. He was able to practice on Wednesday and remains questionable on the injury report.
Our View
The Chargers aren't hesitant to sit their players during practice, so fantasy players shouldn't be too worried about this as long as Kaeding returns on Friday.

October 27, 2005 10:37 PM ET
Texans: Johnson remains iffy for Sunday
The News
Texans wideout Andre Johnson was able to run in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, reports the Associated Press, but he is still questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Browns because of his injured calf.
Our View
This is the first week Johnson has been able to do anything in practice since hurting the calf, so at least he's progressing. However, the Texans haven't been able to establish any semblance of a passing game this season, robbing Johnson of almost all of his fantasy value.

Lions: Williams takes it easy again
The News
Lions wideout Roy E. Williams is still hindered by his strained left quadriceps and isn't ready to return to the field. "Roy didn't do much today. He did some strides and some jogging and those sorts of things," head coach Steve Mariucci told the team's website. "He has not made enough progress." He hasn't played since suffering the injury in week five.
Our View
Unless Williams gets a lot better by Friday, he won't be able to participate in a full practice this week and Mariucci has already said he won't put The Legend on the field until he gets at least one practice in. Looks like another lost week for Williams and his owners.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chargers: Gates back on the field
The News
Chargers tight end Antonio Gates returned to the practice field on Thursday, reports the team's website. A thigh injury knocked him out of Wednesday's session and landed him on the injury report as questionable.

Gates will be good to go on Sunday and should remain in your starting lineup.

Redskins: Hall and Novak both get work in
The News
Kickers Nick Novak and John Hall are getting equal reps in practice as the Redskins wait to see if Hall is healthy enough to return, reports the team's website. Novak isn't thinking about the fact his run with the team is coming to an end. "I'm going to prepare like I'm kicking this week and we'll see what happens," Novak told the site. Hall hasn't played since straining his right quad in the season opener.
Our View
If you own Novak, you need to check back on Sunday to see if he is still employed by the Redskins.

Rams: Holt missed another practice
The News
Rams wideout Torry Holt missed practice again on Thursday and remains doubtful on the injury report with a strained PCL, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The News
Saints wideout Az Hakim practiced on Thursday but remains questionable for this week's game against the Dolphins with a rib injury, reports the team's website.

Rams: Bulger downgraded
The News
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger was downgraded to doubtful on the team's official injury report on Thursday and interim head coach Joe Vitt told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "I don't think Marc's going to play this weekend. I think we're going to keep him down." Bulger is battling a sprained AC Joint in his right shoulder that he suffered in a week six loss to the Colts.
Our View
Bulger is expected to be back after the Rams' bye next week. Jamie Martin will be used under center again this week.

Saints: Horn works out the hammy
The News
Saints wideout Joe Horn practiced for a second straight day on Thursday, reports the team's website. He's been dealing with a hamstring injury for a month and hasn't been able to play through it. He's listed as questionable for this week's game against the Dolphins.
Our View
If Horn can get through practice Friday, he'd have made it the entire week without any setbacks and would likely be in the lineup on Sunday. However, he's started games before with this injury and couldn't finish, so if you have another reasonable option, you may want to go that direction for another week.

Bears: Clark put on the injury report
The News
Bears tight end Desmond Clark has been placed on the injury report as probable after he missed practice with a hip injury, the team reported on Thursday.

Dolphins: Carter practices
The News
Dolphins defensive end Kevin Carter returned to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's with a knee injury, reports the team's website. He remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Eagles: Shepard now on the injury report
The News
Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard was added to the injury report Thursday with a knee contusion. The injury was sustained during Wednesday's practice. "I was overly aggressive in practice, I guess," Sheppard told the team's website. "I think I'll be OK. I don't think it's anything serious." He's classified as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Our View
The Eagles defense will lose an All Pro if Sheppard can't play, which is good news for the entire passing game of the Broncos.

Bengals: Henry added to the injury report
The News
Bengals wideout Chris Henry missed practice on Thursday with a groin injury and was put on the injury reports as probable, reports the team's website.
Our View
We'll check back with Henry on Friday to see if he returns to practice. Kelley Washington would get more snaps if the rookie is unable to play Sunday.

Packers: Fisher practices on Thursday
The News
Packers running back Tony Fisher was back at practice Thursday, reports the team's website. He missed Wednesday's session because of an eye problem that required surgery earlier this week. The injury occurred when he was poked in the eye during Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He is listed as probable on this week's injury report.
Our View
Fisher will be ready to start Sunday, but the Packers will be trusting Brett Favre with the ball a lot more than Fisher.

Bengals: Rudi back at practice
The News
Rudi Johnson returned to Bengals practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session to rest his sore knee, reports the team's website.
Our View
He'll be fine for Sunday. Keep him in your lineup.

Chiefs: Parker unable to practice
The News
The Chiefs were without receiver Samie Parker for Thursday's practice because of his sprained left knee, reports the team's website. He is currently listed as questionable for Sunday's game.
Our View
Parker hasn't practice yet this week and it is becoming increasingly unlikely he'll be able to suit up Sunday against the Chargers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 7:04 PM ET
Panthers: Foster at practice again
The News
Panthers running back DeShaun Foster was able to practice on Thursday despite the bruised right knee that has him questionable on the injury report, according to head coach John Fox.
Our View
Stephen Davis will be the team's primary back again this week and Foster should remain on your bench.

October 27, 2005 3:03 PM ET
Cowboys: Jones remains limited
The News
Cowboys running back Julius Jones missed the team portion of practice on Thursday, but the club hoped he would be able to participate later in the afternoon, staff writer Nick Eatman explained on the team's official web site. Marion Barber is expected to get the bulk of the carries if Jones misses a third straight game on Sunday due to high left ankle sprain.
Our View
It's not looking very good for Jones this week, and we believe he'd have to show something in practice on Friday for Bill Parcells to use him this Sunday. Parcells hasn't committed to using Barber over Anthony Thomas or Tyson Thompson, but Eatman's comments reinforce the feeling that Marion is the best play for fantasy owners.

Chargers: Gates officially questionable
The News
Tight end Antonio Gates missed a portion of team drills with a thigh injury and was added to the injury report late Wednesday. He is expected to play on Sunday against the Chiefs, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Our View
We'll keep an eye on this, but don't worry about it unless Gates misses practice the rest of the week.

Broncos: Carswell in surgery after car accident
The News
Offensive tackle Dwayne Carswell suffered serious injuries in a car accident early Thursday morning and is undergoing sugery to repair a torn diaphragm and bleeding in his chest cavity, Denver CBS Channel 4 is reporting.
Our View
We'll of course update you as soon as more information is available. Carswell is a key blocker for the Broncos and has not missed a game since 1995.

Bears: Berrian out six-to-eight weeks
The News
Wide receiver Bernard Berrian underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair torn ligaments in his left thumb and will miss the next six-to-eight weeks, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Our View
Berrian was serving as the team's No. 3 receiver. His absence will allow former starter Justin Gage to see more of the field, but even primary weapon Muhsin Muhammad struggles to produce in this pass offense.

Titans: Bennett not back until after bye
The News
Wide receiver Drew Bennett returned to practice Wednesday, but he is still sporting a cast to protect his injured thumb and was limited to running routes with the scout team. Bennett had surgery to repair a dislocated thumb suffered in the week six loss to the Bengals and he admitted to The Tennessean that while there is "a small chance" he could be available for next week's game against the Browns "if I can find something that will protect my thumb better," he probably won't return to action until after the Titans' week-10 bye.
Our View
The Titans have elevated Sloan Thomas from the practice squad and signed O.J. Small to the practice squad to address their lack of depth at receiver. Right now Tyrone Calico, Roydell Williams, and Courtney Roby comprise the team's top three wide receivers, as Brandon Jones is also banged up and likely unavailable for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Browns: Dilfer gets official vote of confidence
The News
Trent Dilfer will remain at quarterback for the Browns. "I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt," head coach Romeo Crennel told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "That's why I'm staying with him. It'll give us a chance to right the ship and we'll see if we can do that." Crennel added that it's possible Charlie Frye could get the call if Dilfer struggles Sunday against the Texans.
Our View
The Browns are two-point underdogs to the only winless team in the league, so you can bet they'll be plenty motivated on Sunday. Dilfer's biggest job this week will be handing the ball to Reuben Droughns, as the Texans sport the league's worst run defense.

Chargers: Kaeding questionable but practices
The News
Kicker Nate Kaeding, listed as questionable on this week's injury report with a back injury, did practice on Wednesday, according to the team's official website.
Our View
Considering how often the Chargers rest their injured players in practice, the fact that Kaeding practiced is a solid indication that he'll be fine on Sunday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 12:19 PM ET
Rams: Bruce unable to practice
The News
Rams wide receiver Isaac Bruce rode a stationary bike while his teammates practiced on Wednesday. He is once again listed as questionable on the injury report with turf toe. "We'll make a determination on Isaac at the end of the week," interim head coach Joe Vitt told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He's hoping. Believe me, he'll be back just as soon as he can possibly do it. To return him now, this early, and lose him for the rest of the season could be fatal for us." Bruce has been sidelined since week three.
Our View
Based on Vitt's comments, we don't expect Bruce to play again this week. The Rams have a bye next week and we expect Bruce to sit out through the bye with the intention of returning in week 10. Until then, fantasy owners can expect to see more of Kevin Curtis in the starting lineup.

October 27, 2005 12:18 PM ET
Chargers: Edwards, linebackers banged up
The News
Donnie Edwards (knee), along with fellow linebackers Steve Foley (abdominal muscle) and Randall Godfrey (neck), missed practice on Wednesday and are listed as questionable for week eight against the Chiefs. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he expects all three starters to play.
Our View
The Chargers let their injured starters sit all the time, so don't worry too much about Edwards missing workouts early this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 12:15 PM ET
Titans: Jones likely out on Sunday
The News
Wide receiver Brandon Jones did not practice Wednesday, and it appears the rookie will not be available for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Our View
With Jones and top wideout Drew Bennett both on the sidelines, the Titans will go to battle with Tyrone Calico, Roydell Williams, and Courtney Roby as the only receivers who have spent more than a couple days with Norm Chow's offense.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 12:14 PM ET
Bengals: Johnson looking to save Harris money
The News
Wide receiver Chad Johnson said Packers cornerback Al Harris will offer his toughest challenge this season, but that didn't stop him from being… well, Chad Johnson. "There are two things for Brother Harris this week," Johnson told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "The bad thing is, he has to cover me. The good is, he can save 15 percent by switching his insurance to Geico."
Our View
We're already dreading the offseason, when we won't get our weekly Chad Johnson quote. There is no word on if CJ is replacing the gecko as the insurance company's pitchman, but we expect he'll do well enough in his day job this Sunday that he probably won't need the extra work.

Ravens: Ricard ruled out
The News
Fullback Alan Ricard, who missed two games with a calf injury before returning last week, only to aggravate the injury further, has been ruled out of the Ravens' Monday night game in Pittsburgh.
Our View
Ricard's primary contribution is as a lead blocker for Jamal Lewis, but even his return to health probably wouldn't be enough to get Lewis back on track. And his continued absence doesn't exactly make things better.

Cardinals: Dansby likely to play
The News
Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby is listed as probable on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. The second-year linebacker is nursing sore knees, but the Arizona Republic reports that he is expected to play on Sunday. Dansby has 38 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions this season.
Our View
Barring a setback, it appears that IDP owners will be able to use Dansby this weekend.

Raiders: Moss improving
The News
Head coach Norv Turner told the San Jose Mercury News that wide receiver Randy Moss (questionable) is making gradual improvement in his recovery from groin and rib injuries sustained in week six. "Randy is better than he was," Turner said. "He's probably about where he was on [Sunday]. He was a little sore [Tuesday] when he came in and worked out. He's gradually getting better. I don't think he'll be 100 percent for the game.'
Our View
On Sunday, Moss participated in only 14 plays, catching three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown, despite being listed as doubtful all last week. As long as he continues showing improvement, he has to be in your lineup against a Titans defense that has allowed 14 touchdown passes in seven games.

49ers: Battle nearing return
The News
49ers wide receiver Arnaz Battle is hopeful of returning to practice on Thursday after missing two of the last three games with a knee injury. He tried to play in week five, but aggravated the injury and hasn't practiced since. "That was a setback for me," Battle told the San Jose Mercury News on Wednesday. "That didn't help me any. Hopefully, I can take the steps that are required and get back on the field by Sunday."
Our View
Fantasy owners should forget about Battle this week because the Niners will face the stingy Buccaneers defense. Furthermore, Ken Dorsey is expected to start at quarterback on Sunday in place of injured quarterback Alex Smith. Actually, Dorsey might be a slight upgrade over the rookie signal caller, but he's still not enough to make us change our tune on Battle.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 11:44 AM ET
Raiders: Walker out indefinitely
The News
Starting left guard Langston Walker will be out a minimum of six weeks, and potentially for the rest of the season, after undergoing emergency surgery for an intra-abdominal hemorrhage. "He's OK," head coach Norv Turner told the Oakland Tribune. "That's our No.1 concern. It's unfortunate for our football team, but he's very fortunate that he's all right and they found it when they did so it didn't become major."
Our View
Walker is a big loss, but the Raiders offensive line is deep and versatile. Backup Brad Badger has experience as a starter, and if his knee injury doesn't allow him to go, Oakland can shift center Jake Grove to guard and use veteran Adam Treu at center.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 11:43 AM ET
49ers: Nolan leaning toward Dorsey
The News
49ers head coach Mike Nolan conceded on Wednesday that Ken Dorsey will most likely start in place of injured quarterback Alex Smith. "It does look more favorable now that Ken would be the guy, but we'll make that decision based on where Alex is at," Nolan told the San Jose Mercury News. Smith is nursing a stretched ligament in his right knee.
Our View
Dorsey took all of the first-team reps during practice on Wednesday while Smith watched from the sidelines. If Smith doesn't return to practice on Thursday, then Dorsey would most likely get the start on Sunday against the Buccaneers. The Niners are facing one of the league's best defenses this week, so Dorsey and Smith don't warrant fantasy consideration.

October 27, 2005 11:39 AM ET
Titans: McNair expected to start
The News
Quarterback Steve McNair practiced Wednesday for the first time in two weeks, and he is expected to start at quarterback for the Titans Sunday against the Raiders.
Our View
McNair didn't even travel with the team to Arizona last week, as Titans coach Jeff Fisher opted to have him rest his ailing back so the problem wouldn't linger the rest of the season. McNair underwent back surgery in 1999 and indicated that the problem will come and go for the rest of his career, but that right now he feels good. Billy Volek is waiting in the wings should McNair suffer any setbacks.

Saints: Brown on the mend
The News
Saints offensive tackle Jammal Brown returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since he sprained his ankle back in week five. Head coach Jim Haslett said that Brown "did well," according to the San Antonio Express-News. Brown is on pace to return for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Our View
The Saints selected Brown with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2005 draft. He has played well during his rookie season and could give a big boost to the running game if he returns this week.

Chiefs: Receivers will rotate
The News
With Samie Parker questionable with a knee injury, the Chiefs will frequently rotate Dante Hall, Marc Boerigter, and Chris Horn opposite Eddie Kennison. "We have really always rotated receivers," head coach Dick Vermeil said. "Sometimes it's not by design but by exhaustion. A guy gets tired blocking and running and sometimes he takes himself out. We allow that."
Our View
Outside of Kennison, none of these receivers (including Parker) are viable fantasy plays.

Patriots: Dillon will return "sooner than later"
The News
Corey Dillon, who continues to nurse an injured knee (according to the Boston Globe), missed a portion of practice on Wednesday and is listed as questionable (ankle) on the team's week eight injury report. "I'm going to get back as soon as possible," Dillon told the Globe on Wednesday. "Hopefully sooner than later."
Our View
This tells you all you need to know about the Patriots and their refusal to reveal information about injured players. While the media is assuming it's a knee injury that is hampering Dillon, Bill Belichick listed him with an ankle injury. And, of course, Generalissimo Belichick won't let his minions reveal anything to the media, either. Unless Dillon returns to practice later this week and/or gets upgraded on the injury report, we're probably due for a game time decision on Sunday. Corey would have a great matchup against the Bills, but don't forget what happened in week six – when Dillon suited up and was named the starter, but didn't play as Patrick Pass took all the carries.

October 27, 2005 11:26 AM ET
Jaguars: Taylor practices
The News
Running back Fred Taylor joined his Jaguar teammates for practice Wednesday, lending credence to his insistence that he'll start and play Sunday against the Rams.
Our View
Taylor missed the Jaguars' October 16 game in Pittsburgh because of a sprained ankle, but he's had an extra week thanks to the bye to recover. He's listed as probable on the weekly injury report, but any time Fragile Fred is hurt the alarms go off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 11:21 AM ET
Chiefs: Gonzo in game plan
The News
In his daily press conference, Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil discussed why Tony Gonzalez has yet to catch a touchdown this season. "We haven't had enough opportunities down there, and we've run more than we have thrown," Vermeil said. "He's always in the game plan and sometimes when you don't catch touchdown passes it doesn't mean you haven't thrown them. Defensive players are getting paid to defend them too."
Our View
Gonzo's numbers are disappointing, but fantasy owners should recognize that the Chiefs have made a concerted effort to change that since their bye three weeks ago. That manifested itself in seven catches for 67 yards against Miami last week, and it's worth noting that the Chargers have allowed Jeremy Shockey and Heath Miller to score touchdowns in their last two home games.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 11:09 AM ET
Texans: Johnson feeling better
The News
Wide receiver Andre Johnson practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and remains questionable for this weekend's game against the Browns. "It's feeling better," Johnson told the Houston Chronicle of the calf injury that has kept him out of the past two games. "Things are going in the right directions, but we'll just have to see how it goes."
Our View
The Texans' passing game is in total disarray right now, and Johnson wasn't contributing much even when he was healthy. A whole lot of things have to fall in place—Andre getting healthy, a second option emerging in the Houston passing game, the Texans finding a way to keep David Carr upright—before Johnson warrants fantasy consideration again.

October 27, 2005 11:07 AM ET
Redskins: Brunell limited in practice, will play
The News
Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell was limited in practice on Wednesday due to a strained left calf, and he's listed as probable for Sunday's clash with the Giants. He initially suffered the injury last Thursday, and he told the Washington Post that he's feeling much better this week.
Our View
Brunell performed well against the 49ers last Sunday despite the ailment, and we're not too worried about this malady affecting his play this week. Start him with confidence.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 11:00 AM ET
Broncos: Plummer practices despite injury
The News
Jake Plummer is listed as probable for week eight with a left shoulder injury, but the Rocky Mountain News is reporting that he did practice on Wednesday.
Our View
This doesn't sound serious. First, it's not his throwing shoulder, and second, he's participating in practice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 10:56 AM ET
Broncos: Tight ends blocking more
The News
As the Broncos continue to pile up rushing yards, it's clear that their tight ends, Stephen Alexander and Jeb Putzier, have had to eschew their pass-catching opportunities. "I think as this thing progresses, those guys will catch more and more balls," tight ends coach Tim Brewster told the Rocky Mountain News. "But in our room, the first thing we understand is that we're going to block people. We're going to get the running game going and everything else falls into place."
Our View
The Broncos wide receivers are barely registering a blip on the radar screen, so it's no surprise the tight ends have had more blocking responsibilities. Do not even consider Alexander or Putzier in fantasy play.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 10:55 AM ET
Falcons: Vick likes himself
The News
Falcons quarterback Michael Vick opted to sing his own praises on Wednesday. "Everybody knows I've got great talents and gifts and can do things 90 percent of the guys in the league can't do," Vick told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I don't feel like I've got to do things differently, show off my status, my power. I can do it, but it's no need. Only if a line is crossed or if there's a need for me to act a certain way would I approach the situation differently. It's pretty much the way I've been since Virginia Tech. I'm a team guy, I understand the concept of winning and what it takes to win." The Falcons have a bye in week eight.
Our View
We think Vick was trying to say that he doesn't act like he's special in front of teammates, but it came off sounding snooty. Hey, we know something that 90 percent of the league's quarterbacks can do better than Vick. It's called throwing an accurate pass. Maybe he should try it sometime.

Dolphins: Mare questionable
The News
Olindo Mare showed up on the injury report as questionable with a left knee injury. According to the Miami Herald, Mare hurt the knee making a tackle on a kickoff in week seven against the Chiefs.
Our View
The Dolphins signed free agent Jeff Chandler to the practice squad on Wednesday. If Mare can't go, Chandler will get the call. Don't concern yourself with this situation – nobody kicking in Miami is worth having on your roster.

Giants: Green placed on injured reserve
The News
The Giants placed linebacker Barrett Green on injured reserve Wednesday. He played in only one game this season and never fully recovered from offseason surgeries to his knee (January) and ankle (February). "There was no conclusion drawn as to what they were going to do immediately," head coach Tom Coughlin told the team's official web site. "And the timing is just not very good for us to continue to wait."
Our View
With Carlos Emmons ailing, the Giants couldn't afford to go into Sunday's game without another option at linebacker. Given Green's shaky relationship with Coughlin over the past two seasons, we wouldn't be surprised if he needs to find a job elsewhere in 2006.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 10:22 AM ET
Cowboys: Nguyen off injury report
The News
Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen is not on the injury report for week eight. He's missed the last three games due to a pinched nerve in his neck.
Our View
We knew that Dat was close returning, and this news basically confirms that he'll be back this Sunday. Fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on the Cardinals running game, and the outlook is even worse with Nguyen in the lineup.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27, 2005 10:21 AM ET
Giants: Emmons questionable with pectoral tear
The News
Giants linebacker Carlos Emmons underwent an MRI earlier this week, and the results showed a slight tear in his pectoral muscle. He did not practice on Wednesday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's clash against the Redskins. "He feels better today," head coach Tom Coughlin told the team's official web site. "He (did) not work today but he does feel better. We will have to see as this goes forward (about the game)."
Our View
Reggie Torbor, who was demoted earlier this season, would jump back into the starting lineup if Emmons were unable to go this Sunday. Carlos is the team's fifth-leading tackler, and fantasy owners using Clinton Portis, Mark Brunell, and other Redskins should enjoy hearing this news.

Cowboys: Witten accepts limited role
The News
With left tackle Flozell Adams out for the season, the Cowboys have asked tight end Jason Witten to help out more on the offensive line. "If we pass it 25 times, usually I'm going out on 22 [pass] routes," Witten told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "Now, if we're trying 25 passes, it's 12 or 15. It's a different role for me, and I have to accept it." He caught only two passes in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. "It's totally different," he continued. "Now you are protecting and helping block. It's another body on those guys. It's not always a double team. It's, 'Chip this guy, watch this guy and then get out [into a pattern].'"
Our View
Fantasy owners hate hearing such news, but we saw the fallout of the Flozell injury this past Sunday. The Cowboys packed in their offense and tallied a season-low 275 yards. Witten and fellow tight end Dan Campbell need to help out shaky left tackle Torrin Tucker and rookie right tackle Rob Petitti, and that fact is unlikely to change when the Cardinals bring Bert Berry and Chike Okeafor to town on Sunday.

Steelers: Bus ready to roll
The News
Steelers running back Jerome Bettis returned to practice on Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday's sessions, reports the team's website. He is listed as probable with a knee ailment.

49ers: Battle sits out another practice
The News
49ers wideout Arnaz Battle was unable to practice on Friday because of his knee injury, reports ESPN.com. He is still listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

Bears: Jones removed from the report
The News
The Bears removed running back Thomas Jones from their injury report after practice on Friday. He was listed as probable with a sprained lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.
Our View
Jones will be the team's workhorse back again this week against the Lions. He ran for 139 yards and two scores against the Kitties in week two, so he's a strong start for fantasy owners on Sunday.

October 28, 2005 10:43 PM ET
Saints: Horn's still practicing
The News
Saints wideout Joe Horn practiced for a third straight day on Friday and ESPN's John Clayton is reporting he will return to the field Sunday against the Dolphins. He has missed most of the last four games with a hamstring injury he suffered in week three.
Our View
Fantasy owners should still be careful with Horn because he hasn't made it through a game since week two. If you have a reasonable alternative on your roster, it would be safe to go that route this week. Of course, in fantasy football you don't always have to go the safe route.

Buccaneers: Cadillac keeps running
The News
Buccaneers running back Carnell Williams is dealing with a sprained left arch and hamstring injury, but he's been able to practice all week, reports ESPN. Despite being able to participate in practice this week, he remains questionable on the injury report.
Our View
Williams will be a game-time decision because head coach Jon Gruden is waiting until after warm-ups to decide on his status. Fantasy owners can tentatively include Cadillac in their lineups, but come back Sunday to make sure he is active.

Panthers: Foster stays on the practice field
The News

Cowboys running back Julius Jones missed practice on Friday and was only able to his rehab work, reports ESPN. He is expected to miss his third straight game because of the high ankle sprain he suffered in week five.
Our View
Fantasy owners shouldn't have Juice in their lineup, but check with us on Sunday for confirmation that he'll be inactive. Marion Barber got the bulk of the work last week and is expected to do so again.

Chargers: Kaeding misses another practice
The News
Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding was unable to practice for a second straight day on Friday and remains questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs, reports ESPN.com.
Our View
The team hasn't gone out and got another kicker, but unless something changes on Saturday, Kaeding will be a game-time decision. That's not good news for fantasy owners because the Chargers play an afternoon game, so his status won't be known until after most lineups are due. Don't hesitate to make a move Sunday to pick up a kicker you know will play.

The News
Chiefs receiver Samie Parker missed his third practice of the week on Friday due to his sprained left knee, reports the team's website.
Our View
Parker will be a game-time decision because of the injury but don't expect to see him out there. He should remain on your bench even if he does suit up.

Our View
If you plan on using either of these two, you have to check back with us on Sunday to find out the winner of this epic kicking battle.

Raiders: Moss may get more action
The News
Raiders wideout Randy Moss' condition is improving and ESPN's John Clayton is reporting that he'll see the field for more than the 14 plays he got last week. Moss remains questionable on the injury report for Sunday's game because of groin and rib injuries.
Our View
Moss played through the injuries last week and found the end zone. He'll see even more action this week and should be in your lineup for what should be a high-scoring affair against the Titans.

The News
Chiefs quarterback Trent Green was excused from practice Friday due to personal reasons, head coach Dick Vermeil announced after practice.
Our View
This doesn't impact his status for Sunday and, thus, doesn't affect his fantasy value.

The News
Steelers receivers Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle El, and Cedric Wilson all practiced on Friday despite their various injuries, reports the team's website. Ward is battling a hamstring injury, Wilson has a wrist problem, and Randle El is dealing with an injured foot. All three are listed as probable.
Our View
Looks like the Steelers' passing attack will be at full force this week against a Ravens defense that will be missing their two top playmakers.

Broncos: Plummer practicing
The News
Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer has practiced all week and will play Sunday despite being on the injury report with a bum left shoulder, reports the team's website.
Our View
Plummer will be good to go this weekend and fantasy owners should use him as they normally would.

Packers: Martin the newest addition to the injury report
The News
Packers tight end David Martin was added to the injury report Friday afternoon as questionable with a groin ailment. The team's website reported that he was unable to participate in Friday's practice session.
Our View
If Martin can't go this week, Donald Lee would move up the depth chart and get a chance to see the field more.

Bengals: Henry returns to work
The News
Bengals wideout Chris Henry was back at practice Friday after missing Thursday's session with a groin injury, reports the team's website.

Packers: Collins ready to lineup on Sunday
The News
Packers safety Nick Collins is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals with an injured quadriceps, but he has practiced the last two days despite the injury.
Our View
This is good news for those in Packerland because Green Bay needs all the healthy bodies they can get and every game the rookie plays will help his development.

Ravens: Clayton's ankle on the mend
The News
Ravens wideout Mark Clayton's injured ankle is improving and he may be upgraded on the injury report this weekend, reports ESPN's John Clayton. He suffered the injury in week six and was forced to miss last week's loss to the Bears.
Our View
Clayton hasn't been making much of an impact his rookie season and shouldn't be in your lineup even if he plays.

Patriots: Seymour not seen at practice
The News
Patriots defensive tackle Richard Seymour wasn't able to participate during the media portion of Friday's practice due to his knee injury and remains questionable for Sunday night's game with the Bills, reports ESPN's John Clayton.
Our View
Seymour is looking like a game-time decision and his absence would be good news for Willis McGahee and the Bills running game.

Titans: Jones absent
The News

Texans: Johnson continues to run
The News
Texans wideout Andre Johnson will be a game-time decision Sunday with a strained calf, but he has been able to do some running all week, reports ESPN.
Our View
Johnson has been a fantasy bust this season and he shouldn't be in your lineup unless he gets back to full strength and, more importantly, the Texans figure out a way to move the ball.

Patriots: Dillon expected back Sunday
The News
Patriots running back Corey Dillon was seen running at the beginning of practice on Friday and is expected to start Sunday's game against the Bills, reports ESPN's John Clayton. He is currently questionable on the injury report with an ankle injury he suffered in week five.
Our View
Dillon has been able to participate in practice the last two days and his health is obviously improving. The fact he plays on Sunday night makes his fantasy situation a bit iffy, but unless you have an equal option that is healthy, it is worth the gamble to roll the dice on CD.

Lions: Williams not ready for action
The News
Lions wideout Roy E. Williams was unable to accomplish much in practice due to his strained left quadriceps and it is highly unlikely he'll be able to play this week, reports ESPN's John Clayton.
Our View
Head coach Steve Mariucci said Williams would have to go through a full practice Friday to play on Sunday. He didn't and, thus, fantasy owners shouldn't have The Legend in their lineup this week.

Jaguars: Taylor downgraded on Friday
The News
The Jaguars may be without their best runner this Sunday. The team downgraded running back Fred Taylor to questionable on their injury report Friday with a sprained ankle despite him taking part in practice, reports ESPN's John Clayton. The injury occurred during an October 16 game with the Steelers.
Our View
Taylor has been able to practice all week, but he is still experiencing soreness in the ankle. He is expected to suit up, but playing through pain has never been one of Fragile Freddie's defining characteristics. Check back Sunday for the final word on his status.

Lions: Rogers will be game time decision
The News
Lions' Pro Bowl defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, who sprained the MCL in his right knee against the Browns last week, will be a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Our View
Fantasy owners should plan on doing without Rogers this week because even if he suits up, there is no guarantee he'd last too long trying to push around 300-pound linemen on one leg.

Steelers: Ward, Randle El return to practice
The News
Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle El returned to practice Thursday after both wide receivers missed Wednesday's practice session.

Ravens: Boller practices
The News
Quarterback Kyle Boller practiced Thursday, his first full practice since suffering a hyperextended right big toe in the season opener. "We'll see how the week goes, but we're very confident that he has turned that corner," Ravens coach Brian Billick told the Baltimore Sun. "If he gets through the week healthy with no aggravation and recurring pain, then we'll look forward from that point. That's the challenge, and it looks like he's up to it."
Our View
Boller will serve as the Ravens' emergency quarterback for Monday' night's game in Pittsburgh and could resume his role as starter by the following week's game against the Bengals.

Saints: Stecker returns to work
The News
Saints running back Aaron Stecker practiced on Thursday after sitting out the previous day with an ankle injury, the San Antonio Express-News reported on Friday. Stecker is still listed as questionable on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Our View
Stecker has started the last two games for the Saints, but Antowain Smith led the team in rushing in both contests and has scored the only two rushing touchdowns since Deuce McAllister suffered a season-ending knee injury. In other words, we'd rather have Smith in our fantasy lineups this weekend.

Jones also underwent a second MRI exam and is awaiting results. "I'm pretty sure it's not anything serious," Jones told The Tennessean. "The swelling is down a lot, I am feeling a lot better, I am walking a lot better… I'm trying to get out there and play, but I've got to do what's best for me."
