That's not the point. This is Sturtze's first year as an everyday reliever, and his recent struggles may stem from being overworked.
We used to use Quantrill in all situations last year, and using him in blowouts only added to his overuse. He was done by the end of August.
We have a three-man bullpen again, and they're gonna log a ton of innings by the end of the year just through 1-3 run games alone. If you add on innings from 7-run games and other blowouts, we're just digging a deeper grave. Yes it was only one inning, but one inning here, one inning there adds up in the end. It did for Quantrill.
Not to mention, Wang was only at 88 pitches :confused:

sometimes you have to look further down the line. you dont use your best relievers in a big blowout unless they absolutely need the work.
