Whats going on with him? I know he's coming off an injury but he can't last long in games. He gets pulled after just 5 and maybe (very little) after 6 innings.

eh, no big deal, hes getting his stuff back his curve is nasty and in a years time he'll be solid. I think he should get surgery this offseason though.

WTF do you expect him to do when he is coming back from a ruined shoulder. its a miracle he's pitching at all, so take whatever you can get from him and be happy.

well, you do want a guy to come into the rotation and be effective. you dont want a guy with a 12 ERA and then say "OH THANK GOD ITS A MIRACLE HES EVEN PITCHING" cause who cares if he can phsyically be capable of pitching, you need a guy to be effective. With that said, i think hes been decently effective, only one really bad start, i think hes doing well. I do think he should have surgery though, but im no doctor

he's just throwing a lot of pitches, that's all...he gets up over 100 pitches in 5 innings, naturally he isn't gonna go much further...

He threw over 100 pitches last night. How long did you want him to stay in? :eyebrow He's given us 6 or 7 solid innings in 6 of his last 7 starts. What more do you want from a #5 guy?

Thats what I mean, he throws too much and can't go past 6 innings, with our bulpen being used so often we need our starters to go long. I know Miller's coming off an injury, I know, I don't expect him to be his best or pitch complete games every time. It's just his pitching count, he doesn't go long.

Blue, any team in the league would be happy to take a #5 starter who can routinely give you 6 or 7 innings while giving his team a chance to win. Every other one of our starters goes 7 or 8 innings. I don't know what else you expect from a 5 guy. Ask Astros fans if they'd love to have Wade Miller back.

Agreed...

If they didnt think he could pitch or be effective then they shouldn't have signed him.... I think the "take what you can get from him" theory is a little whack...

I think he will be ok overall.. He has been a little inconsistent thus far but he did pitch well enough his last start to win....

he's a number 5 starter james. take what you can get from him and be happy. If you get 8-12 wins and have an ERA under 4.75 averaging around 6 innings a start as a #5 starter, you are doing your job.

remember, when they signed him, he wasnt expected to produce until right around now.
