Is he gonna be on the team? I really loved the guy. Real tough player, KILLS lefties. I'll miss him. Hope he has a great year!

He signed with the Cubs as a utility infielder. There is a good chance he will beat out Delano Deshields for the starting secound base job. I expect Chris to play everyday at several positions and perform well.

also, he mght start at 3rd base with the loss of Bill Mueller for the first few weeks of the season.

With Mueller out and DeShields hip giving him problems I'd say Stynes will be seeing alot of action, especially early in the year...What's with Boston fans, you always carry the torch for the Chris Stynes and Lou Merlonis....I like it...Used to have Henry Cotto here in Chicago. Sort of the same way. Was a frequent backup that always seemed to contribute whenever he got the chance to play..:fro:

i didnt know deshields is hurt. if he isnt ready opening day, i think either hill or stynes will start at 2B, and either Bellhorn or Stynes will start at 3B

Just read about DeShields hip in the Tribune today. Same hip that gave him problems last season is flaring up again...

The article didn't go as far as opening day threat. Left it open. With Hill and Stynes I think they can afford to rest DeShields some...

i agree. thats the best part about having the best farm system...if someone gets hurt, we can just bring someone up from the minors cuz there are a bunch of guys who are ready. i.e., if mcgriff gets hurt, choi or zuleta can spot him. I think if Deshields cant start opening day, or any other time, Hill will step up big time.

I think we're on the same page here. Depth is what will let the Cubs compete all year long. Their pitching is deep, the position players are deep, only the bullpen is a serious question mark. But as the DBacks proved last year, you can still win it all without your stud closer..

but its not like gordon was a stud anyway. he is replaceable with some of the guys we have.

Time will tell...Gordon is just ok...Let's hope for a lot of 3 and 4 run leads going into the 9th! But maybe Farnsworth has grown into the job or someone else can get the job done...

I hate DD for not keeping Stynes, the guy was a STUD in the clutch. As far as LOOOOOUUUUUU!!! Another GREAT guy who probably won't get a chance to make the team....AGAIN. Really cool guy, I've hung out with him a few times.

Best of Luck to Cubs, always had a soft spot for em. My whole family is from Chicago, half Cub fans. LOVE WRIGLEY, next to Fenway, best park IMO.
