On the heels of HOF catcher Carlton Fisk getting the left field foul pole at Fenway named after him,the White Sox announced that a statue of fisk will be unveiled prior to the August 7th game against the Seattle Mariners at US Cellular Field.

The new statue will be the 3rd in a continuing series that will be placed in the left field councourse.His statue will be alongside Minnie Minoso and Charles Comiskey in the outfield councourse.

Fisk played 13 seasons with the Sox from 1981-83.He played in 1,421 games on the South Side,ranks 2nd in White Sox history with 214 home runs,drove in 762 runs while hitting .257 in a Chicago uniform.

He ranks in the White Sox top 10 in at-bats,games,extra-base hits,home runs,RBIs,and total bases.

His #72 was retired by the White Sox in 1997.He was named to the White Sox All-Century Team in 2000.That same year,he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Yeah,really. They should have waited until the Red Sox come to town later in August to put up the statue.

That would have made sense.
