Wake's been doing good, hopefully he can last atleast 7-8 innings! I think we should get 2 good relievers this week or next week. Boston need's help.

Sox lose 11-9. Wake hands a six run lead over to the bullpen and they totally fock it up yet again.

HEY THEO, ARE YOU WATCHING THE GAMES? THE BULLPEN SUCKS. DO SOMETHING!

Christ, I am having nightmare flashbacks to 2003.

Wake's pitching too much, 51 in just 2 innings and walked alread 3 batters

How is the weather there in Boston? We've got major thunderstorms in Springfield pouring down right now. They may be headed east...

PissedPrincess

Still sunny, but they say T-storms on way quickly. Good. We could get a tie instead of the certain loss.

PissedPrincess
06-29-2005, 03:46 PM
Never mind. We already got the loss. MY GOD WE ARE JUST AN AWFUL TEAM.

Well, we are leading 5-2. HOWEVER, the odds of our pen holding a 3 run lead are NOT good.

Why didn't they bring in Foulke? My fantasy team needs some saves, and the Yankees need to gain some ground. It's a win-win situation.

Why does Olerud wear a helmet when he plays on the field?

Why does Olerud wear a helmet when he plays on the field?

i thought we had a thread about this before...well, i'll give you the short of it. John Olerud had a brain Aneurysm when he was playing baseball in college. He was advised to wear a helmet in the field for protection. I think now it's more tradition than protection really.

Have you heard the funny (apochryphal) story about Rickey Henderson and John Olerud?

Here goes:

After the 1999 season, Olerud left the Mets for the Mariners. Rickey, another 1999 Met, wound up there too. Rickey (being Rickey) looked at Olerud and said "you know, when I was with the Mets, I played with a guy who wore a helmet in the field." And then Olerud said "that was me."

This was actually reported on Sports Center before it was discovered that Robin Ventura had made the whole thing up back in NY. :laff:
