Quantrill and Stanton shook hands and exchanged hugs with teammates and club personnel after Wednesday night's rainout at Camden Yards. Quantrill would not comment after leaving the clubhouse, and Stanton said, "You can read between the lines."

Q...thank you for 2004... :)

Might take back what I said in another topic. Maybe the Yankees are dealing Stanton and Quantrill for Encarnacion today? Pretty much sounds like those two are leaving the team today, so we'll see what happens. I haven't any official deal made yet, but I won't be too surprised. I doubt they'll just release Quantrill and Stanton for nothing, right? o_o

The Marlins aren't fools. WTF would they want Q and Stanton for? They make Embree look like Cy Young. :laff:

The moves were made official on Thursday, as the club designated both veterans for assignment. The Yankees have 10 days to either trade or release the pitchers. Manager Joe Torre said Wednesday night that he had spoken with general manager Brian Cashman about reducing the pitching staff from 12 to 11, though many assumed that it would be youngster Jason Anderson, called up from Triple-A on Wednesday, that would be sent to the Minors. Instead, it is Stanton and Quantrill who are gone, with Anderson and Scott Proctor remaining on the staff. The Yankees recalled outfielder Bubba Crosby and purchased the contract of left-hander Wayne Franklin from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spots. Infielder Felix Escalona could also join the Yankees this weekend in Detroit.

Well I can't see anyone wanting Stanton, but Quantrill might get some interest. With a good defense, a big park, and sparing use he may become good again.

Quantril has been on and off and probably will stay that way and Stanton is nothing special either. But who knows dealing them may be a good choice if not they'll be replaceable
