OK, so how do we handle the situation at closer? Move Timlin to that spot? Put Arroyo there? Trade for someone? Leave Foulke there and hope he gets his act together?
Personally, I'd go with the Arroyo option. With Curt coming back in a week or so, Arroyo is going to the bullpen anyway. Arroyo might not be the best man for the job, but at this point, anything is better than Foulke.

Timlin. Arroyo will go to the pen for late innings, and we'll trade for another set up guy. Arroyo cannot close.

Hopefully Foulke can have his surgery and be back in late August.

Timlin should close.
I wonder if we can pry Billy Wagner from the Phillies. Wagner didn't think it was cool when Phillies got Urbria, so he might want out. Though, it's just a guess. That's what I would like to happen.
Though, Timlin will probably close and that's it. Setup man? Like, who can we get that's out in the market?

Wagner is a FA at the end of the season. Do you want to give away the farm for someone you might not be able to re-sign at the end of the year?

I don't know whether Arroyo can't close...has he ever tried? But I like him as a starter...he usually goes 7+ innings, so he can save the bullpen a little, especially since Wade Miller and Schilling will be coming back from injuries. I say keep timlin in the spot, use foulke as a normal reliever (maybe the "pressure" with be less, and so he'll pitch better...?) We have enough components to make this work without trading for someone, whether wakefield goes to the pen, arroyo goes to the pen, timling becomes closer, etc. It's not like we are short pitchers...we just have to find the right combo.

Arroyo can't close because lefties KILL HIM. Curt will not be starting for a while, he is slated to pitch in the bullpen after the AS Break.
Foulke may very well be done for the year with knee surgery.

oh yeah, that's a good point...something with his breaking ball right? nasty on righties, but it doesn't phase the lefties.

If the name "Looper" comes up in trade talks, be afraid. Be VERY afraid. With him on the mound against a lefty, it might as well be BP. They're hitting .323 against him.

Agreed! I think Timlin is the best option...

With TImlin being closer and schill coming back as a reliever, I think it's great. But we still need a solid reliever. Boston wanted Hammond from San Diegoe, like thats going to happen.....

Looks like Schilling is the choice sometime after the All-Star break. Probably not permanant but not a bad choice as it won't disturb the current bullpen setup.
