I'm sure you've heard that Mets fans and Yankee fans aren't too fond of each other's teams (or of each other!). Loyalties here used to be based on geography, but now they're based on winning percentage. I read somewhere that about each team has a couple of million fans, and that 1.5 million people in NY are bandwagon-jumpers. There's a lot of trash talk, and not all of it is good-natured.

What's the dynamic in Chicago? I know the Cubs get all the press, but what's the rivalry like from the White Sox perspective? Would Cubs fans vote for Jeter or Podsednik? Would White Sox fans vote for a Cub over a guy from somewhere else even if the Cub had better numbers? Just so you know, most Mets fans I know would vote for almost anyone over Jeter to be named to the All-Star game.

The dynamic in Chicago has been for the better part of the last 25 years is that the young 20-something crowd tends to go to Cubs games to see and be seen, while the working class,9-5 crowd tends to go tot he Sox games.

I can't answer for Cub fans on if they would vote for Podsednik or Jeter.

I think that many sox fans that see what kind of year that Derrek Lee is having would not look the other way and vote for Pujols.

But right now, with the Sox running away with the division,we see the Cubs as irrelevant right now.

When a friend and I were in Chicago last year, we went to games at both places. As Met fans, we could easily see the correlation between Cubs/Yanks and Sox/Mets. Everything all over town was Cubs this and Cubs that, no love for the Sox, just like in NY. Naturally we sided with the Sox :D

Sox fans were very friendly and Cubs fans were snobby and rude. We got glared at because we weren't rooting for the Cubs. Please.

Plus, we liked Cellular Field a LOT and didn't like Wrigley.

I'd vote for Pods 10 times over jeter this year. (i did notch a vote for pods)

way to categorize cubs fans by the way. :hmm you arent going to get ribbed any more for being an opponent at a cubs game than at a sox game. and thats just horseshit if you think thats the case. and snobby and rude? please.

I've never been to a game in Chicago, so I can't don't have any experience, but I do know how non-Yankee fans are treated at Yankee Stadium. Like dirt. OK, worse than dirt. They've been known to steal visiting fans' caps and stomp on them and/or burn them. They happily throw beer on other teams' fans. Why waste beer on someone you don't like?

trust me, its not a problem. Considering the natural rivalries that exist between Milwaukee and us, the Sox and us, and the Cards and us, we get PLENTY of enemy people coming in and visiting us during games.

Plus, I cant count how many Red Sox fans came up to fans and thanked us for making them feel so much at home on that friday and saturday (even before the comeback on saturday). does that sound snobbish?

you're going to have jackasses at every ballpark. its not exactly fair to judge fans by an unselect few.

My last exoperience at Wrigley was about 5 years ago when they were playing the Expos.i wore my old school Expos jersey, and yes,I got a lot of "Expos suck!" from the people, but at the same time,I also got a lot of"Expos suck!.. But I like your jersey."

But Ray's right, every team, even the Sox have jackass fans. And believe me,after a couple of incidents a few years ago on the South Side, the good fans still have to live with that stigma.

You only pay $5? At Shea it's $6.25. But you can get Guinness and Harp on tap for that too.
