This team has reminded me more and more of last years' team as of late. They've finally begun to score in the late innings...they're coming back instead of looking miserably defeated after being down a few runs early.

They're finally starting to click. This is a very good sign :).

Yup, a great sign of 2004 when they lost 4 straight against Boston in the playoff's :D

why don't I come into the Boston forum and start yelling in capital font about 86 years.

:sigh:

anyway, milky, I kind of agree, I mean, they don't feel as promising as 2004 though, I honestly thought we were great that year, just one series messed us up, as blue so KINDLY pointed out.

Took 86 year's......nice job.

Too bad Joe Torre is THE worst manager EVER. Cano has to bunt in that situation.

Yeah I agree. Last year's team was a lot better. But as they proved, the playoffs is a crapshoot, so who the hell knows what this team could do should they make it :notme:

*sigh* ugh we should have won last year... :(

He managed Tanyon horribly. (1) Don't pitch Sturtze when you're down 4 runs, (2) unless it's absolutely necessary, don't pitch Sturtze 2.0 innings, (3) don't do both 1 and 2 in the same game :ugh:

I don't have a problem with Torre taking off the bunt. You score more often w/ men on 1st and 2nd no outs than with men on 2nd and 3rd one out. Robbie CANNOT hit into a double play in that situation .

Well, guess what, the Red Sox lost AGAIN. :D

Boston 49 38 .563 -
Baltimore 47 40 .540 2
NY Yankees 46 40 .535 2.5
Toronto 44 44 .500 5.5

(hahaha sry for the crap display of the standings)

Hey, for how bad we were doing, I'll take it. It's looking good with Jason hitting, and as Sheffield said "When Jason is hitting this lineup is unbeatable."

Our offense, though, was never a big concern...

It's our pitching staff that will make or break us. Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano will determine whether we end up a playoff team or in 3rd place...

If remember correct, A-Rod hitting a clutch homerun is something new. But last year, remeber Sheffield hitting all those 8th and 9th inning HRs and doubles.

Eh, somewhat new. He had some huge homers last year, but only a big single against the Sox. It's nice to see A-Rod join Sheff and Ruben in the land of clutchness :smokin:

"Early on we didn't have the capability to fight back," Cashman said. "Now we do."
