I wanted him to hit Ortiz. They always hit us. :( We never hit them. Maybe Randy will.

no way...dont sink to that level...i always hate it when teams start hitting people on purpose...it pisses me off. And Arroyo has a tendency to be wild...he has the most Hit Batters in the league i think...no wait...casey fossum does (another sox protegee :D )

Nah, we don't need to start anything and risk firing up the Sox.

Mo striking out the side is ten times sweeter than Ortiz brushed back :D

I was kind of hoping Schilling would drill A-Rod in the face with a 95 MPH fastball. No such luck. :(

I can't believe Tanyon gave up that HR to Ortiz...1-2 pitch, he's gotta be kidding.

Intentionally hitting someone is part of baseball. It sends a message. In the Yankees case, it lets Boston know that if they hit one of our guys we're gonna hit one of theirs, or something as simple as not allowing them to dive into the plate. There's nothing wrong with it, as long as you keep it down.

sorry, but intentionally hitting someone is SO lame! show the other team up not by throwing at someone, but by winning the game. It's a stupid, immature little "tradition" in baseball that should be stopped immediately.

It's Ortiz man. 1-2, 0-2, 3-2, everyone gives up bombs to him.

I don't think his ankle is 100% recovery, It doesn't look good though. I think he should consider early retirement :D

Arroyo does it ALL OF THE time, not last night though, that was a curve that hit Giambi. Pedro did it all the time.

Look at some of the successful pitchers, I'll take some obvious ones. Roger Clemens; he OWNS the inside half othe plate because of the fact that hitters know he's not afraid to hit them if they're diving into the outside pitch. Randy Johnson; who wants to get hit by a +95 MPH fastball? I know I don't. You have to instill fear inside of the hitters to be successful.

I'd take his early retirement over blowing games.

i'm not defending the red sox players from throwing at people! I know arroyo throws at people, and I sure as hell knew pedro threw/throws at people. but I hate it. I think it's an unneccesary and immature part of the game. it's necessary to pitch inside on hitters...thats how you instill fear and get them to know you mean business. throwing at players has nothing to do with that.
