Why the hell did Francona put Schilling in last night? He just came off the DL, give 1-2 days rest, then you put him on.

Television analysts offered some interesting insight into Curt Schilling's appearance in the ninth inning of last night's game.
Rick Sutcliff, on ESPN2 quickly analyzed that Schilling wasn't pushing off the rubber effectively with his surgically repaired ankle, saying he ''had no drive at all.'' ''I'd be surprised if he's thrown in this role again,'' he went on to say. He's not ready to pitch at this level.'' Dennis Eckersly offered his thoughts after the game as well. ''Throwing the splitter shows there's no confidence in your gas [fastball],'' he said. Both pitches Schilling was rocked on (Sheffield and A-Rod)last night were splitters.

schilling needs to go back on to the DL.
unless he wants to ruin his arm at any rate.

He didn't have enough velocity to be effective, and his splitter wasn't down...hang 'em and bang 'em.

He's still getting used to being a closer. Going from Starter to Closer is very tough (Even though he's had 3 or 4 games to prepare)

He didn't throw his Fastball. Both Home runs were hit off his Splitter! Guess he has no confidence on his fastball right now. I still Think Tito should have given him rest on the bench before putting him out there. It's too early.

i dont think he should be a closer, period! if he can't pitch in AAA, what makes you think he'll do fine in the majors in any situation...?

He's a starter, not a closer....

He used to be a reliever. Back in the early 1990s, when he was with the Astros and then the Phillies.

He should be middle relief or set up man. Timlin is the closer when Foulke is out.

you dont get it. he shouldnt be pitching period. by overcompensating due to the ankle, he's going to injure his arm. you can take that to the bank.

I agree. You need leg drive in order to be successful, otherwise you're like a fish out of water.

Sorry I wasn't around today, I actually was in Springfield for a conference.

He shouldn't. Hell, he shouldn't have pitched once this season. Yeah, I'm really happy he's trying, but if he's not Schilling, he's not going to help us. Schill should haven't pitched and listen to the doctors and started out of action for 18 months. For all Schill did last season, I think we won't have a problem with that, right? o_o
Schilling at his current state is much of help for us from what I seen from his this season.
Oh, bring him in last night game was the most absurd move I ever saw. You don't bring Schilling in to face two of the best hitters in Major League and at that, in a TIE GAME?! Jeez, at least this owning of the Yankees today made up for that game yesterday a bit.
