WOOHOO!!!! 3,000!!!!
:cheer: :hail: :jump:
Thanks for starting the thread, guys!!! I saw the hit, but was transfixed! I couldn't leave the TV......... I had to watch every minute!!!
That was amazing, the way the Seattle fans just kept on cheering and standing!!!
Mostly, I loved that it was a productive hit, a double, scoring a run! :cheer: Which makes it even more meaningful for Raffy, since he's always said he just wants to help the team.
I also loved the whole team coming out to give him hugs........... the bullpen, everyone!
Very, very cool.

:woohoo
Palmeiro really did deserve this. He earned it. I hope people can shut up and just say that this man is a Hall of Famer and get over it. It's not an easy task to be in the 3000 hit club and 500 home run club. Oh, I forgot he should be in the 600 home run club by the time he retires. ;)
Congratulations, Palmeiro. :)
I wish I got to saw it in person I was at the O's and Sox game before the All-Star game. XD

I just don't get it. Why is there such a backlash with sports "talking heads" about him being a Hall of Famer? The guy's been a solid player all his life. Did I actually hear he's never been on the DL?! He goes out and plays and hits and I'll have to check what his fielding percentage is....... I'm pretty sure he's always been a solid first baseman.
Heck. There are guys in the Hall of Fame who definitely don't belong there, if you go by the standards that some of these writers and "experts" are using to say Raffy shouldn't be there.
Nope. Don't get it. Should be a lock, I would think!

he definitely deserves it and i dont understand the naysayers either. if he had retired 3 years ago, yes. but not with 3000/550 and a .289. and yes he has never been on the DL. I believe he definitely belongs in cooperstown and it kinda irks me that he isnt given his due.
BTW, what a difference 20 years makes. in 1986 and 87 with the cubbies he was a scrawny singles hitter who tried to go the other way too much. in 1990-1991 he transformed himself into a bit more of a power hitter in texas (he was traded because we had Mark Grace in the wings as well plus we needed that reliever: mitch williams).

Skip Bayless, aka Skip Clueless, is one of his detractors, and if you've followed Clueless in his sportswriting career, you would know he's just out to stir the pot and get his name in print. :yadda:
  ¡Raffy, tres mil, mas uno! ¡Muy bueno!

The thing about Palmeiro that sticks out,or doesn't stick out,is that not only has his numbers been consistent through the years,he never had that "monster season" where the numbers would stick out like a sore thumb.
Look at his career stats here. (baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/stats/mlb_individual_stats_player.jsp?playerID=120191&statTYPE=1)
There should be no question whatsoever about his place in the HOF.He's definately 1st ballot.
