It seems like yesterday that the Oakland A's were languishing in the depths of the AL West, but now,the A's are poised to make thier annual 2nd half tear.

As of this posting, the A's are only 1/2 game behind struggling Texas for 2nd place in the AL West, and only 3 behind Baltimore for the Wild Card.

Barry Zito has found his form that made him one of the most dominating pitchers so far this decade. He threw 7 1/3 innings of no-hit ball last night against a lethal Rangers offense. That came a night after Rich Harden took a perfecto into the 8th against those same Rangers.

If the pitching continues, and the offense stays consistent, the A's will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2nd half.

If the A's make the wild card, the White Sox season is over. Oakland owns the Sox for some reason.

Strange thing is that after the Sox dropped thier usual 2 of 3 at the Coliseum recently,Ozzie Guillen said that he would mind coming back here for the playoffs. :laff:

He also said that they should move the Sox/A's games to San Francisco next year. :laff:

Well, what do ya know? The A's swept the fading Texas Rangers this afternoon 8-3.

Coupled with Minnesota's loss at Detroit this afternoon, the A's are now tied for the AL Wild Card lead with the Twins.
