I heard that the Yanks are only picking up $400,000 of Leiter's salary.
BTW,the Yanks announced that he will start Sunday at Boston.

Your spelling is pathetic.
And no, it's not pathetic considering the injuries to our pitching staff.

Steinbrenner is desperate for pitching, so he's grasping at straws. I was one of the biggest fans of Leiter for many years, but I felt he should have hung it up after last year. The Marlins apparently agreed after a while.
But he'll end his career (hopefully!) with the team he started with. He'll finish up with Kevin Brown, with whom he was teammates on the 1997 World Champion Marlins. And most of all, he'll be back in New York, which is a huge thing.

At this point the Yankees didn't have much options for pitchers.
Hopefully next year they get a couple younger aces in the offseason.
Enough of the declining 40 year olds.

He pitched great..let's hope he can keep it up!!!
I'm at shocked at what happen. One the best offense in MLB could not hit Leiter. I'm just at shocked at what happen in last night game. Sox shut down completely by Leiter. Mussina and Johnson didn't shut down the Sox, but Leiter?!
Why was Bellhorn removed from the game in the 8th? Hey, at least he would have striked out in the 9th and there would have been 1 out, instead of Cora grounding into the double play, which killed the rally.

haha, that's probably true...i hoped francona would hit someone for bellhorn but Cora? we have better hitters in our dugout don't we?

LEITER IS AMAZING
Don't get used to it. Wait till he goes 3 - 2 on every batter and has 120 pitches by the 4th inning.

Yeah, well I think being home might just rejuvinize him...didn't see anything wrong with him yesterday...might just have woken him up and he's ready to do some serious ass kicking now!

Again?
I tried to tell you all the other day. The Al Leiter that pitched against Boston was an aberration. The Al Leiter that pitched against the Angels is the REAL Al Leiter.
Happy for him he's back in NY. Happy for me it's in the Bronx and not Queens.

This was an obvious pickup. The bar is set extremely low, so any 5-inning, 4-run outing he gives us will be better than the 3-inning, 7-run outing that we'd get from Redding or May.
And plus, Al Leiter is cool :D
