The White Sox announced that one time closer Shingo Takatsu has been designated for assignment.
The 36-year-old reliever was 1-2 with a 5.97 ERA in 31 relief appearances this season.This,coming off a 2004 season where he led the team with 19 saves.
His last appearance came in Cleveland on Saturday when he worked 2/3 of an inning,and was charged with 2 runs.He came in with a 7-2 lead in the 9th inning,but the Sox escpaed with a 7-5 win at Cleveland.
