He looks terrible in CF.

His last error cost the Yankees a 3 run lead :ugh:

Who do they have to replace him?

I am thinking they are going to pick young prospect to replace Williams in CF position.

I heard rumors about Chavez, Ibanez, and Byrnes coming to the Yanks.

Carbera? Tried, but failed. The Yankees will most likely trade to get Encarnacion or Byrnes, but I'm not sure about Byrnes since Oakland trade him to Colorado. Depending if Colorado wants to trade him or not. We'll see. No way no deal for CF won't happen.

I heard that Ken Griffey Jr. was on the market.

But if I was the Yankees I wouldn't want him in fear of injuries.

I thought at one time Junior said that he would never play for the Yankees now I'm hearing that NY is one of the few clubs he would waive his no trade claus for.

I think Ken Griffey Jr. would be perfect D.H. in NY.

Poor Bernie. That's actually one Yankee I don't hate.

Remember years ago when Griffey vowed to NEVER play for the Yankees?

Now he seems to have changed his mind.

Doesn't matter after what happened to him in Cincinnati you would have to be crazy to pick up his $12 Million/year contract all the way through 2008.

We know the Yankee don't want to give up any more of their prospect to get some medicore or old player from another team. Not sure what the Yankee are going to do. I doubt they'll get Griffey since he's quite expensive and they'll have to give up too much to the Reds to get him.

Well, that's what I believe.

Do not underestimate the Yankees :D

They can get Griffey if they want to... :notme:

I still think they should get some more young prospects though

Yep..and last time people were complaining about Bernie and wanting to dump him..he came off the bench hit a game winning HR and then did it again the next night!

Boy make a few errors and memory and loyalty go right out the window! I recall someone wanted to dump Arod for a few errors

Kel, Bernie the hitter is not being crapped on. It's Bernie the Centerfielder.

And it's not a few errors, it's an entire season of dropping pop ups, balls flying over his head for doubles, and other teams constantly running on his arm. Bernie just isn't a major league centerfielder anymore, and the Yanks should NEVER have let it get this far. Bernie deserved better than to go out like this.

If the Yankees are to be loyal to Bernie, they'll do everything in thier power to get another centerfielder. This year it's gone farther than balls that could have been caught by an adequate CFer flying past him for doubles, he's missing pop ups. That's so embarassing, and you can see it on his face when he does it. The Yankees should NEVER have left Bernie in a position to look as bad as he has. It's DISGUSTING. It's like the career equivalent of leaving Mariano in a game for like, 6 innings. You just don't put a legend in the position to embarass himself after all he's done for the franchise. You DH him, you play him minimally in the field, you DON'T let him make a fool of himself.

The Yanks have to pick up a CFer. The Pitching Staff needs it, and the Yanks can't keep sacrificing Bernie to the wolves.

I agree Kiddo..but the fans should atleast back off him and have a little loyalty for everything he's done for us and stop bashing him..he already said, earlier in the year, that if they wanted him to just DH he'd be happy doing it. It's not like he's asking to be out there and play and make errors he's being told to play.
Sorry..just sick of all the Bernie bashing.

kel, loyalty only goes so far in sports. you should know that by now. Truth is, i blame torre more than anything. Bernie's skills have eroded to the point where he is worse than willie mays was that last year and we all remember how willie looked in the World Series. The only thing i blame bernie for is not knowing when its time to say enough is enough.

I know Ray..just sick of all the shit being said about Bernie. I'm sure he feels bad enough with his play..doesn't need people bashing and blaming him for it when it's Torre putting him in there. Funny how fast people forget who was on all the WS teams that kicked butt..the guy gets old and not as good and their calling him names..just pisses me off that's all.

I agree, this is on Torre and the Front Office. Bernie's trying his best, but his best at this point in his career won't cut it.

The Yanks should have seen this coming and they should have looked for more viable CF options this past winter. But they didn't, and now Bernie's being sacrificed. It pisses me off.

Hey I agree, Bernie is one of those few players who should have career immunity. But some of the plays he's screwed up have looked really, really bad. His defense has cost us several games already, and "several games" could easily be the difference between making and not making the post season, and a wasted season will trump loyalty every day and twice on Sundays.

But you're right in that the wrath of the Fans is misdirected. It should be aimed at the Front Office, not Bernie.
