The Royals pulled off their first trade of the season Tuesday afternoon when they sent veteran infielder Tony Graffanino to the Boston Red Sox for two minor-league players.

The deal came together in the last 24 hours when the Red Sox sought a replacement for injured second baseman Mark Bellhorn.

The Royals received left-hander Juan Cedeno from Class A Wilmington and outfielder Chip Ambres from Class AAA Pawtucket.

It's a good deal. We were looking for a decent 2B and he should fill the hole. Not a big move, but it does remove Cora from the line-up and had a guy that won't strike out a billion times and a guy who can get some hits every so often.

It's been rumor this deal was going to happen, so I'm not shocked. It's not official yet though?

Graffanino will be a good fit out there. He's a valuable utility man,and can play all INF positions.

I remember him when he was the White Sox in 2000.He won't hurt you defensively, and will be a positive asset to the club.

Hope you guys get him.

NESN showing the move is official. Not sure why MLB.com didn't report the move as done. Anyway, Graffanino will be in uniform and playing tomorrow probably.

I like the dude. This is like our 3rd time trying to get him. We shall see what he can do.

You think he'll take over Mueller's position? Mueller might get Traded.

RBI Double today for the newest Sox 2B. He was showered with a standing O. And he's hitting .299 on the year, so let's hope he keeps it up...

(Yay Bellhorn's Gone!!! well, on the DL but close enough)
