Can somebody explain to me why the Yankees decided to deal these two guys away?

Q is probably very exhausted from working his @$$ off last year and he couldn't get his pitches going this year.

No, they weren't.

Royce is correct, they really, really, sucked, and they were more dangerous than Proctor, Groom, and the other rotating alternatives because Joe Torre didn't think realize they sucked.

I don't know how you're gathering that but according to the numbers I'm looking at they both are doing better this month then the alternative.

Quantrill had no role on this team. He wasn't the 7th inning man anymore nor was he a long-reliever nor did he only face lefties or righties, and I think that lacking of a role really screwed him up. Plus, I think he was and is still feeling the burn of that huge load we dumped on him last year. He had a 9.58 and 7.15 ERA in his final two months as a Yankee. He sucked, but he is still capable of getting guys out, so I'm not surprised he's doing a little better in the NL. The situation just wasn't right for him here.

Stanton's pitched 3.2 innings so far w/ the Nationals. I'd wait a little longer before proclaiming his release a mistake.

At least with Proctor there's a chance he'll improve. With Stanton and Q you've got two guys who are pitching on fumes. And Torre still trusted them (that Baltimore game where he put Stanton in to face Roberts in extra innings comes to mind), which was a little scary.
