When it looked like Mike Modano would re-sign with the stars last night, he rejected theior offer 5-years for 17.5 million. Great :D Both Chicago and Boston are fighting hard for him, they both offered 4-years 20 million.

reports Stars captain Mike Modano has rejected the club's latest offer worth five years, $17.75 million. His agent said it's still possible his client could re-sign with the club, "but not likely". The Bruins were considered front runners yesterday for Modano's services.

reports of published reports in the Edmonton media that the Oilers have been in talks with the agent for UFA winger Paul Kariya. The Edmonton Journal claims the Oilers have offered Kariya a one-year contract worth between $2.5 - $3 million. The Chicago Blackhawks are also believed interested. If the Oilers sign him, the Journal suggests they may be forced to deal away a player to free up some payroll space. GM Kevin Lowe also hinted he might make an offer for Mark Messier but only if there were still money available to do so.
