The White Sox announcers just mentioned during the White Sox game just now that the O's have traded OF Larry Bigbie to Colrado for OF Eric Byrnes.

Bigbie was taken out earlier in tonight's game.

I don't get this. :notme:

Is he a power right-hand hitter?

He just might be at Camden Yards.

I still don't get it though. Big's avg. is better than his......... I read that Byrnes' BA is just over the Mendoza Line. Maybe you're right. Maybe he'll be better at Camden Yards, and the fact that he's a right-hander.

Nuts. I'll miss Larry Bigbie. He's come up through the Orioles' system, and I think he's got incredible potential. I'm sorry to see him go. :(

It bums me out too. I hate Byrnes. Passionately. He's the guy who lost game 3 for Oakland inthe 2003 ALDS. When I hear his name, I always think of that game. He was coming home on a base hit. The run would have given Oak the lead.

He crashes into Tek spikes first, which was totally unneccessary because the ball was thrown to the back stop. Then, he never touches home. It gets worse. Tek sees the ump has not made a safe call, so he gets up to run after the ball. BYRNES PUSHES HIM, then hobbles around like he is hurt, and heads to the dugout.

Tek finds the ball, tags Brynes in front of his dugout. Byrnes is called OUT.
:laff: Oak loses by one run.

Did he really miss the plate? I don't know if I'm thinking of something else, but I recall replays showed he touched it. I'm probably wrong though.

Anyway, I love Byrnes, he makes amazing plays in the outfield and hits well against lefties.

You may be thinking of a regular season game. He didn't even go near the plate. He just assumed since the ball went to the backstop that he didn't have to really touch it. He was too busy hobbling around.

He reminds of Nixon, he takes all these stupid dives making easy plays look hard.

Have you seen the play he made on the A's diving over the bullpen mound in Oakland this year?

I haven't. I just find him irritating. Him and Nixon are mediocre players who think no one will notice because the get dirty all the time.

They showed that play recently on ESPN Classic's "Who's #1?" I think it was the episode of biggest blunders.

Well Nancy sorry that you got stuck with Byrnes.... I wasnt happy when the Rockies got him when there was so many young guys in the Rockies system that was and needed to be called up.

Now speaking as a Rockie fan I love the deal. Get a guy as you said is a bit young and has that potential and we have some track on him in the Majors and I think he will be a great guy to add to the Rockies....

Some questions on this guy. What is his arm like? Can he play CF? (That is where the Rockies have to get someone) Heck who knows this could be a outfield like the days off when Burks played CF. Not the best but he made up with it by his bat.

Good arm, Shad, from the games I've seen. I'm pretty sure he's only played left field.......... could be wrong on that.

He's a strong hitter, once he gets it going. Like I said, alot of potential. I think you got a good one, there.

I to think the Rox did good with this trade. It seems that the Rockies have just done duds on the past trades here but this one I have a good feeling about.

I hope so DD. I apologize on behalf of Theo. The Rox got Bigbie to give to the Sox for Shoppach and another prospect. The Rox are not pleased the Sox reneged.

I would have loved the Rox to get Shoppach. BUt I still like dumping Byrnes for guy that still can get better and fits I feel more into the Rockies movement.

Bigbie has been doing great for the short time he is with the Rockies Nancy!!!

He is one of the guys that stepped up huge to help the Rox get there almost first ever sweep in PNC Park. And Helton is out of the line up also!!
