Obviously, Devils fans are angry at Scott for leaving their team to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. It's hard to be bitter at what Scott did. While it stinks to lose him, life has to go on. Thank God the Devils got the best GM in hockey because if not for Mr. Lamoriello, who knows what this franchise will be. As long as he is around, I am quite sure these guys will be replacable. If Devils fans think the sky is falling because guys like Holik, Claude Lemieux, and other former Devils have left, can you imagine the reaction if Lou Lamoriello eventually calls it a career which may come eventually. Sure David Conte could replace him, but what if he eventually wants to be a GM (I am suprised Conte has stayed that long as Lou's right-hand man)

The Devils eventually have to rebuild and retool. Some of the core players have aged. It's time to give Paul Martin (Minnesota native) and David Hale a chance to established themselves the way Scott did during the lean years (Before Jacques Lemaire). Those two gotta learn and I feel they have to learn through trial and error through logging minutes not by playing less minutes a night. Sometimes a team needs to take a step back. For the Devils long-term future, it was best that Neidermayer left and that Martin and Hale have a chance to be bonafide players.

With the departure of Nediermayer and the fact Martin and Hale will get playing time, this move to hire Larry Robinson to replace Pat Burns (hope Pat recovers from his cancer surgery and beat the cancer) makes sense more than ever since Larry can teach those two on the job.

There should not be hard feelings on what Scott did. It's not like he is going to the Rangers, Islanders, or the Flyers. He is reuniting to play with his brother. If his heart is set on that, who are Devils fans to begrudge him for that. I rather than he go with his heart than play for the Devils by being forced to. You gotta have the enthauism to work for your employee if Scott did not have that by playing for the Devils, then it was for the best that both parties to move on. I hope Devils fans don't have hard feelings. For them to have hard feeling on what Scott did, then they are just stupid people who can't phantom being in a player's shoes not to mention that they think it's a birthright that everyone signs with the Devils.

You had to figure Lou Lamoriello know it was coming based on what Scott's agent was saying about how his client wanted to go test the market for the first time as an unrestricted free agent and how he wanted to play for a team that let Scott freelance his skills. I am sure he prepared for it. He is too smart not to know this was coming.

I still hope the Devils will retire Scott's number in the rafters one day. They should.

Life goes on for both guys. There is no reason for Devils fans to be sad or mad.
